Hi everyone,

Hyperion Entertainment has released a boxed, remastered port of Heretic II for AmigaOS 4.

The game is for sale from Alinea Computer in Germany:

https://www.amiga-shop.net/en/Amiga-Software/Amiga-Games/Heretic-II-for-AmigaOS-4::1354.html

This game has been on my backlog for games to play, so definitely looking forward to playing through it! :)

Features:

- Features Quake IITM 3D engine by Id Software ® using OpenGL
- MiniGL(Warp3D), GL4ES (Warp3DNova) and Software Renderer
- Both GL Renderers with Multitexturing
- CD Audio with Game Music (also playable through ISO-mounting, CD does not need to be in Drive while playing)
- Localization (both Text and Audio-Output) to English, German, French, Italian and Spanish
- Improved Quality of Video Intro/Extro
- High Resolutions (1920x1080 and 4K Resolutions) added
- Multiplayer Support (internet or LAN up to 32 players)
- Formidable Enemy AI
- Outstanding player controls (mouse, keyboard, joystick) using AmigaInput
- Expandable with new mission packs like Quake

According to a news-post over at Amigaworld.net, Alinea Computer will be the distributor of the next games coming from Hyperion.

Well I managed to get the ARM controller board flashed and working. It has taken a couple of days to track down ARM and FPGA files, since they seem to be scattered to the four corners of the wind.

I've catalogued all of the files I've found so far on my wiki: https://www.target-earth.net/wiki/doku.php?id=blog:amiga_minimig_index

With the plethora of later models and combinations of hardware it has been tricky to work out what works with what. It's even more difficult when almost none of the core or firmware releases come with changelog or readme files, or files are tagged with 'upload' dates and not the date of their release, so looking inside zip files is essential.

I *think*, therefore, the latest versions of the FPGA core and the ARM controller firmware I found are:

arm_asb230428.zip - https://www.minimig.ca/index.php/software/
minimig-rel4.zip - https://somuch.guru/minimig/original-minimig/

Anyway, I've found most of what I need. It's disappointing that the old forum on minimig.net is gone, as that seemed to be a source of a lot of information - including, IIRC, a guide on how to upgrade the memory.... which is what I am now looking for.

Amiga Software News / Emojis and more: Pangomonium 1.0 released
« Last post by softwarefailure on March 18, 2024, 02:34:08 PM »

Airsoft Softwair, the hardest working men in code business, are proud to present a massive new plugin release for Hollywood: Pangomonium - The Ultimate Text Engine for Hollywood. Pangomonium is a plugin of epic proportions and the first plugin only available for Hollywood 10. Pangomonium contains an ultramodern, state-of-the-art text engine that can be used to draw text in almost any language of the world. On top of that, it also supports advanced text features like fonts with colored glyphs. This finally makes it possible to write programs which support emojis on Amiga! Pangomonium is based on the established Pango and Cairo text and vector graphics libraries and also allows you to access the complete Pango and Cairo function set directly from Hollywood scripts. Of course, there is also a high-level interface which allows you to conveniently draw text without having to delve into Pango and Cairo programming. Pangomonium has been two years in the making and is now finally ready for release exclusively for Hollywood 10.0.

Here are just some of Pangomonium's impressive features:

- draw text in almost all languages of the world (including complex scripts and layouts such as bidirectional text, right-to-left layouts etc.)
- support for fonts that contain colored glyphs (finally enjoy those colorful emojis on Amiga!)
- exports two high-level and one low-level interface to Hollywood
- Hollywood scripts can access all Pango and Cairo APIs directly (over 500 functions!)
- seamless integration with Hollywood 10's new text interface makes it very easy to use Pangomonium
- the plugin can also replace Hollywood's inbuilt vector graphics engine
- extensive documentation in AmigaGuide, HTML, CHM and PDF (more than 300 PDF pages!)
- comes with over 30 ready-to-run example scripts

And the best of all: Pangomonium is provided free of charge for all existing Hollywood users. Thus, please consider buying Hollywood to show your support for our massive development efforts. Note that Hollywood 10 is strictly required by Pangomonium.

The plugin is now available for free download from the official Hollywood portal. Thanks to Hollywood's cross-platform plugin system versions for AmigaOS3, AmigaOS 4, MorphOS, Linux, macOS and Windows are provided.

This release was brought to you by Airsoft Softwair, the hardest working men in code business.

Amiga Hardware Issues and discussion / Re: XSURF 100 - Poor Performance?

If you have taken the jumper off. Then it’s set to Z3 (Zorro 3) which is the correct speed setting for the A3000 and A4000.

I use a X-Surf100 with the RoadShow TCP/IP stack. Runs fast!
