GTA VC slow using Win7
« on: January 29, 2010, 11:14:13 PM »
I remember GTA VC working great on my old P4 2.4Ghz with WinXP.

But today tried playing it on my Win7 PC and when there is a lot of action on screen it is really slowing down.

Spec of my PC is Core2Duo with 2Gb DDR2 Ram and XFX Geforce 8800GTX and running Windows 7.

I have no idea why its slowing... Installed DirectX 9.0C and tried updating the vid card drivers but it still slows. Everything else works great.

Any help will be appreciated

Can't help you here, though this was one of the reasons I downgraded to xp. The other is being unable to afford one million gb ram.
A1200 Computer Combat. OS3.0. No accelerator, no fastram, mouse soon. And ebaying it.

Try pushing the 'Turbo' button on the front of your personal computer.

Im surprised DX9 works with Win7. Doesnt it come "factory equipped" with DX 10.x (or even 11 maybe?).
Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.

Are there still compatibility options in Windows 7? If so, you could try running the game in XP compatibility mode and see whether that makes a different. It might force it to use a different version of DirectX which is more compatible with the game or your hardware.

Tried the compatibility mode but it made no difference.

I tried to see if there are known compatibility problems but could find anything :(

I may try installing XP on another hd.. It doesnt make sense because my whole system and graphics card and all is much more powerfull than it was in 2002 :S

Grab the latest drivers from nvidia.com. This is always the first place to start.
