Title: OS4 Keboard mapping
Post by: Karlos on June 07, 2009, 02:05:56 PM
Hi,

Does anybody know how to remap the Help key button in OS4? My A1 shares a KVM with my A1200T.

The KVM switch uses the scroll lock key (double tap) to switch inputs. Unfortunately, it seems the traditional amiga Help key functionality under OS4 on the A1 is also mapped there on my keyboard.

Having multiview popup whenever I switch input is getting a bit annoying :)

I haven't really explored the options too far yet as I'm going to be installing 4.1 in the near future (hopefully), so apologies is this turns out to be a really obvious thing to fix :)

I thought it was a preferences setting, but instead it appears to be a setting in UBoot.

In my AmigaOS4 system partition I have a drawer called "Documentation", which contains many interesting things including some info on Keyboards.

Here is a quote from Documentation/Keyboards.doc ...

VII) If your PS/2 keyboard switcher (KVM) reacts on ScrollLock
--------------------------------------------------------------

keyboard.device V50.10 and higher for A1 can use the PrintScreen/SysReq
key as Help key (instead of ScrollLock) if you set the UBoot variable
"kbddev_sysreqishelp" to either "1" or "yes". Then AmigaOS will ignore
the ScrollLock key.

I heard that you can use the old tools on Aminet for OS3.x
