Amiga takes long time to boot
« on: November 26, 2002, 12:00:43 AM »
I just bought my first A1200 few days ago and i'm not sure if it should take that long to boot. It takes about 15secs before the kickstart screen... Is the time that long so slower hard-drives could start before amiga does or what? Or is there just something wrong with this wonderful peace of hardware :) there are no extra cards installed whatsoever. Just plain amiga with 3.1 ROM.

You do mean the workbench disk prompt?
Only the A1000 gave a kickstart disk prompt
if memory serves.  The rom was unfinished at the
time, so they added the rest of the boot coded to a
kickstart disk.  15 secs on a 14Mhz machine doesn't sound too bad.
