And, I\'ve relapsed, LOL.

Hmm, might be canceling again. LOL

Relax in our new server home and enjoy. If you have those rare Amiga pics that you have never uploaded to the gallery before feel free. The out of disk space and bandwidth concerns are now in the past.

It's a Zen Buddha moment if you believe in that sort of thing.

Well no more posts seem to have disappeared into cyberspace unlike yesterday when I was starting to think I was caught in a time loop (either that or me meds had wore off)... :)

Suppose it's a bit like moving house... now has anyone seen the cat lately... :)

That's probably a bit of my fault.  I never thought to suggest that he turn off the site on the former hosting while DNS propogated to avoid lost posts for those few hours.

Mea Culpa (not that I care)

So how much is the hosting now? 3 times more than from competing provider and with worse service?

I don't understand why you insist on staying with the current hosting provider.

http://www.softlayer.com/ - these prices are just plain rip off.

Who is Soft Layer?  They're not the current host of Amiga.org..

From what I'm given to understand -- and I don't speak for the owners or the site any more -- Amiga.org was just put on it's own account with hostgator rather than sharing my reseller account with my other (some very popular and heavy) sites.

Say what you will about hostgator.  Yes, there are cheaper places to host, but IMHO, over the last 3-4 years, they've proven themselves to be reliable and worth the cost of hosting, unlike other hosts that Amiga.org has had in the past.

Well indeed they're very expensive: http://www.hostgator.com/dedicated.shtml

Similar service from certain large and well respected german provider is maybe 1/3 the prices. And all of their dedicated options have more monthly bandwidth, more memory, more HDD storage and faster CPUs.

IMHO this is something that should be considered if the site is going to be run by donations. If no donations are used then I guess it's okay to waste money.

@ Piru

Hmmm... I don't quite understand your fascination over who hosts Amiga.org, personally I couldn't care less if the subscription fees or donations were used by Transition & Pyro to live it up sipping cocktails on some sun drenched beach in the Bahamas all year round and Wayne, Karlos & Argo went there on a freebie vacation each year... :)

The only thing that matters to me is that the mighty Amiga.org is up and running for me to gibber keech on, where the money goes or how wisely it's spent doesn't matter to be honest, methinks you may have a vested interest and are running your own Hosting service and are trying to drum up some business for yourself... ;)

(PS: @ Transition, Pyro and the rest, if you do blow all the dosh and A.org ever closes down, then both of me and me squirrels will hunt you down to the ends of the earth with me tickling stick... just a friendly warning... :D)

I find it stupid to pay more for less. Especially if the money is collected from the community.

And I think you need to check your medication. Again ;)
