Says in the first post it does come with aos4.1 and a license for aos4.2

It also says:

Quote

Prices start from: £1699, USD $2682.56 (excluding AmigaOS4 license, shipping, handling and sales tax).

A bit self-contradictory....

Ouch, talk about sticker shock.

I suspect ACube will be selling quite a few 460's in light of this to guys that had hoped the X1000 would be a little more sanely priced.

Why the criticism regarding the RAM?  Would a next gen Amiga use anywhere near 1GB?

@Delta
Funny...

I`d better use my A4000, AROS-PC & SamFlex (I`d also consider a MOS Powerbook ;-) ) for the time being.
Definitely not worth bothering.

Don't think the issue here is "will it run OS4..." the issue here is "that price and you're only getting 1GB?"

Sure it may be "expesive" but compared to the $2700 whatever you pay for a 27" imac piece of crap it's a bargain.

I'm not sure why everyone is acting appalled or shocked.  You knew it was going to be pricy ! ! !  Its about $200 cheaper than I figured though.

If the X1000 was ground-breaking technology then that price might make sense. As it stands, I don't really see anything amazing about it, whether hardware or software.

The magic price point should have been sub-$1,000, even $999 would have made it more appealing.

I'm happy with my Pegasos II + AmigaOS 4.1.

Come to think about it, it's funny that while the Amiga is a proprietary system, it has such a fragmented market if you will (the same with Android or PCs in general). In the Amiga's case, this applies to both hardware and software (which include inspired OSs such as AROS or MorphOS).

Hopefully a prime offering that would overshadow the others will arise out of this mess and push for a coherent hardware/software combo at a competitive price point.

Choice is a good thing. But great choices are even better.
2x A1000, 2x A2000, 1x A3000, 4x A1200, 3x A500, 1x CDTV, 1x CD32, 2x Pegasos II, 1x EFIKA

Wrong.

The "piece of crap" 27-inch iMac actually starts at $1699. So not quite the bargain in comparison.

Because all the people who are complaining are the people who always complain, and would complain whatever it was. I don't think it's much of a secret that practically all the people commenting on this thread don't like OS4 or Hyperion or whatever.

As somone has pointed out on another site. Its got half the ram is was supposed to have and seperate audio and ethernet cards despite the mobo having these.

Not a good sign for either the software or possiblly yet another amigaone board with hardware issues ?

I like OS4, and I have no probs with Hyperion. However, I want OS4 on something I can afford. If I'm paying top dollar, I'd want something bleeding edge.

As for imacs, i'm no great fan of the Mac, but you buy a machine for it's software base, and it has a large one.

I know there's a lot of inertia with the PPC platform, and too little time and too few developers on OS4, but I really think they should find a cheaper solution or new processor architecture.

$2682.56 for a computer with no OS licence? that's a joke surely. Does it at least come with a monitor, mouse and keyboard?

Uhh, 27" iMac is $1600, lol.  I should know, I just bought one a week ago for a family member. 2.7ghz quad core, 4 GB RAM, 1 TB HD, 6770M gfx card, keyboard, mouse and of course the included 27" display.  And has a established software base of thousands of software titles.  I'm no Mac fanboy, but get your facts straight, lol.  Not to mention it's an apples vs. oranges argument, pardon the obvious pun.

The X1000 won't run anything any better than my lowly SAM 440ep will, it's slim pickings on the software end that's the major problem at any price or HW spec.

Notice how i said "whatever" as i wasn't sure of the price? I was actually referring to the top of the range model as well which is what the x1000 is supposed to be   :)
