You can download it, but they aren't giving it away.

If you don't own the original then downloading it from adobe is in the same legal position as downloading it from thepiratebay.

They've just removed the protection for the benefit of legitimate owners.

Obviously people will download it who aren't entitled, but it is a very old version.

The original owners dowloading these versions will N O T be able to use their original serials, which is even funnier, they have to use these that Adobe kindly provides to the right of the DL link, on that open and unprotected page, open for everyone, not just their registered customers (they DO have log-in customer pages as well, trust me). It's de facto there, free for all to download and use, and as they say themselves, online registration removed (with product killing (yes they did that, and currently still do with newer versions) when serial doesn't check out online they kill the installed products).

So download away people! If you want this *terribly old* piece of SW that is...

:)
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

I don't know,Me? I don't care how terribly old a piece of software is, I care only if it works for my projects. I've been using cool edit for 15 years I think. Always works. I never upgraded to adobe audition's redone version because it really does not add much.  BUT here's the great news...

Adobe audition 3.0 works in wine on linux...

I can not tell you how happy that makes me.
Cooledit/audition is awesome, virtually unlimited audio tracks, good fx,
quick editing. Having 128 or 200 tracks of audio is awesome.

So I for one am really happy they released those. If not, I don't  think I would
have thought to try to install adobe audition on linux. (cool edit does not work)

Good for them, letting go some old versions. And thank the digital gods I
can work on music projects completely on linux now.

I'm going to go try some of the other progs now...
