I have not played it myself (and never will now!), but that was the one title which everyone heard of and nobody debated in favour of (rise of the robots was saved by one persons multiplayer testimony).

P.S.
It's funny how just about every thread which gets over about 20 replies turns into a discussion on the one known as 'doomaster'.

I vote for Crash Garret. And I actually *bought* that game...because it had such a 'pwetty plane' on the box cover :lol:.

Rise of the Robots has a cool box cover too. I have the game with the original disks, but can not get it to install to save my life!

Dark castle was a really bad game on the Amiga platform because you could not set the keys for moving the character
like you could in the Mac version.  It was impossible to remember which key did what.  They would have been better off
using a joystick interface.

I started to shake with repressed trauma just thinking about it.

SubLogic's Jet was pretty miserable for gameplay, but I still enjoyed just flying around. It was novel at the time.

And The Krystal (Cinemaware) looked promising until I couldn't do the swordfighting at all.

And for the record, Lemmings 2 is great in my opinion--not the same as Lemmings 1, but great in its own way.

I think it's a little unfair to include Wendetta in there - it may
have forgotten about anti-aliasing but was very similar to Stardust.

Death Mask was very playable and had damn good sound FX (the minigun
was particularly satisfying).

Usually Amos games get deleted within seconds of downloading them from
Aminet but I do remember some 2-player biplane game where you could
shoot eachother down and bomb your friend's runway.

We're forgetting those fairly new games too like Tales of Heaven.

  1.  Any UNFINISHED game that is currently on aminet!   I get all hot to play a game I downloaded and the "readme" file says this in the title:    "This game is not finished yet....   "     or ....    "Incomplete game..... "    "beta version...."

I would put this next game in the above catagory, but, being it caused me so many headaches and even did recently again on WinUAE........    from Aminet.....   There is no game worse than........   ULTIMATIUM!    This game looks so cool at startup......  intriguing sound.....  3-D like effects with the red and blue fonts which seem to make the words leap out of the monitor.    Nice 3-d tank roving around to shoot at... good sounds......    then the crash!   So far this game has crashed more than 100 x on an A3000.    And a pair of times on WinUAE, and maybe even a handful of times on my old A500.

  The author needs to be beat senseless with a programmers handbook until he pulls it down and fixes it.


 3. Ballistix.   Yeah,  another great game.   Lovely graphics, nice music.  Actually would have made a very very very good multi player game on the net.   Too bad it was OCS only and crashed every other Amiga on the planet beyond 512k of chip ram and 1.3 OS.    
 When I get home from a hard day's work, I used to look forward to turning my 020 driven 3.1OS A500 on to watch this once often played game, dance with distorted graphics, white noise sound, and then a guru.

 I'd rate phuq-the-world (from aminet)  higher than Ballistix.  At least it's hilarious and entertaining.  (heh)

 Im sure there are others on aminet that crash, which Ive forgotten about.  Most of the others listed on the thread I havent played.  (maybe that's a good thing?)

 But if you think Defender of the Crown is bad?   Can you imagine that they actually ported that game to Nintendo?  And it's graphics are WORSE.

 Hell, at least in the Amiga version your character aged and looked haggard when he went thru a losing streak.  When he was winning he was smiling and looking confident.  Sad that no other strategy games Ive seen do this.
  Imagine Romance of the 3 Kingdoms where the rulers start to get grey hair and get old......   even they could have learned a lesson from D.O.C

The arcade version was great fun with 4 players. The Amy conversion just sucked. Ouch.

2nd prize goes to rise of the Robots. I waited for ever for this over-hyped piece of junk. Disappointment plus.

I loved Magic Pockets. With enough practice big whirlwinds/bubbles/etc were easy. Warping through levels, poppy soundtrack, great fun. I think I might have even finished it.

Although it has great intro music the game really sucks!!!
