NatAmi gaming looks interesting.  Apparently they purchased the rights to the Star Wars franchise.

That's a large assumption!

Actually he says the graphics are interchangeable.  I think he had some SW graphics that he did as a hobby.

But the point is Gunnar says Natami will be gaming in 24bit+blend color!
He's working on a SHMUP construction set.

Hmm, interesting. Smart thinking on their part to try and have some launch titles that show off the expanded capabilities, but damn, do we really need more SW games? Hasn't LucasArts already flooded the market?

Read Thomas Hirsch's post.
"Many things changed from the LX board to the MX board. Mainly the memory bus/management and the PCI concept. So the first run of the MX board (which is expected earliest by the beginning to mid January) is to verify the design concept and layout."

Dont the Natami Team have to beta test it (internally) first?, so I guess it may take a month or so after that. But still this is great news one step closer to a new Amiga :razz:

Yes, I think that long-time Amiga enthusiasts are going to be happier with Natami than anything that has been released or announced in recent years.  OK, I'm speaking for myself.

When they say it will come out with "Amiga OS", does that mean a version of OS3.x souped up to work like AmiKit's or ClassicWB's installations?  It would be fantastic to have a modern 3.x Workbench that installs straight off a CD in one go with no buggering around looking for files on other disks that couldn't be included for "legal reasons".

@Darrin

Yes.  AmiKit and ClassicWB are both candidates for the standard install of NatAmi.

@DCAmiga

Yes, the board is untested and some functions of the SuperAGA chipset are incomplete.

@orb85750

The StarWars game is a fan-game produced primarily with 3D models free for use with commercial or non-commercial use as long as the modelers get mentioned in the credits.  Whether it comes bundled with NatAmi or as a separate download remains to be seen.

Excellent.  I love ClassicWB and I have it running on a 1920x1080 display on my A4000.  It would be perfect on the NatAmi, especially if WHDLoad works with KG's game packs.

The screenshots of that Star Wars game are more a cross of the 1942 game he talked about only with a Star Wars theme. The original pictures that were posted were, I presume, just static images after all? Still no video though of any of these specifically written titles?

I look forward to this machine being released, because as Orb said, I think long standing users will find this to be the most exciting piece of hardware released in recent years.

The StarWars game is based on the 194x engine.  The game runs currently on Windows, Mac, and Linux.  Apparently it also runs on AmigaOS (though I've never seen it run on Amiga).  The screenshots are most likely from the Windows version and are full-motion shots.

Cool. Let's hope the new year brings us some exciting news.

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like they wish their life away for new products like this?

Do you have a link to a site where I can see more info regarding this game on Windows, MacOSX & Linux?

Also, can someone point me to an update, or summary of the Natami project?  Yesterday I visited the official site and the latest news item was from May 2010.  The forums were full of what seemed like hundreds of different threads and I did not have the patience to try to sort through all of them looking for a simple summary of what is going on with the project and if there are any projected dates for completion of developer boards, how many developer boards will be produced, what will be the cost of such developer boards and how do you get on a list of interested persons that wants to buy one?  I did see here in this thread, or another Natami thread on Amiga.org, that Thomas expects the first MX board(s) some time in the middle of January, but no other news than that to answer my questions above.

Sorry if this is off topic.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)
