@tom_a_spar

It's been widely reported...

A fix is provided in the FAQ on the main website, and I'll be releasing an updated version in the next few days.

Evening all.

My first post on this site is to ask a question.

Suprised?  No, neither am I really.

X-Amiga sounds like the best way to run an amiga emulator.
(As a dedicated O/S on un-native hardware that is.)

I read above, and @ X-Amiga site that a PPC version
will be released. Please tell me thats true.

So on to my real burning question.

Would any of you accept my first born child as payment
for a working X-Amiga version for PS3?

I'm not that interested in learning all the in's and out's
of Yellow Dog Linux yet would love a "Workbench" for my
new 'super-computer' ;)

I know PS3 emulation is already underway, Amiga included
if I'm not mistaken, so it should be possible yeah?

@Lernatix

As soon as the x86 version is working properly, I intend to start work on a PPC version for Mac.

I don't know much about the PS3 - I can see various versions of Linux have been installed, but how do you use a desktop OS on a gaming console??

Q. How do we use other O/S on a gaming console?

A. We don't. The PS/3 is not classified as one.
A. The PS/3 is much more than a gameing console.
A. USB or BlueTooth keyboards and mice are available.

Q. Would you like a boy or a girl?  :-)  ;-)  :lol:

Well you will need to re-write x amiga to use a minimal install on whatever linux flavour has been ported to PS3.  This would be a mamouth task I would imagine, and elts be honest pretty pointless for the low number of people with a PS3

My only answer to that statement is...

If you had one(PS/3), you would want it too!   :getmad:

I guess I can only hope that Amiga and
Sony go to lunch together one day.  ;-)

The site gives no indication of minimum hardware requirements for a smooth Amiga experience.  I ocassionally find older PCs out on the curb, and it would be nice to save one just for this project, if I knew what kind of processing power was required.

Ummmmm nope.  Played on one, not impressed enough over the xbox to fork out that sort of cash.

QNX is a minimal footprint OS on x86, will X-Amiga run on a QNX hosted machine?
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

@JJ
X-Amiga was built using Gentoo - and Gentoo runs on PS3. I'm not suggesting a port would be easy, but that's one less obstacle!

@ral-clan
Minimum hardware requirements: I'm not sure either! My development machine is a VIA Epia 600MHz with 1GB RAM, and E-UAE runs very smoothly. On the other hand, my test laptop is an old Sony Vaio (Intel Pentium III) running at about 400MHz with 128MB RAM, and it visibly labours...

@amigadave
X-Amiga only runs on Linux. The system is also far smaller than Amiga XL (which used QNX to host UAE). While Linux apps are supposedly quite easy to port to QNX, the kernels are very different - it would probably be a major project.

Looks like a good project.  I wonder if you could get Cloanto to drop the K-Lite distro they include in their Amiga Forever package for this.  If I recall correctly the K-Lite doesnt work out of the box and takes some messing around to get working right.

@neofree

KX Light is a superb live UAE. It uses Knoppix as a base, and 'just works', never any problems (for me).  I'm sure Cloanto are working on a hard disk installer; that was really the only missing feature!

I'll just cross my fingers that some more people with

linux experience and a history with amiga's buy a PS3!

I just don't know enough about linux. 8(
