mindless to you pal... whats realy mindless is that you care... for you info I just voted 10 on a number of your images... so maybe you can feel better out your photos... I like the spider he is cool....
Now that you have ben confimed as the best photorapher on amiga.org will you got back into your box please?  Stay there until os5 is released.

I never said I wanted to be the herald as the best, all I said was that I didn't want to recieve a "1" for something that clearly doesn't deserve a "1". This thread is so damn typical of the Amiga community in general, there is no compromise or willingness to accept that people have varying opinions and points of view.

Voitng "1" on every single image that appears on this site is, IMO, anti-social, but that seems to be a concept you have difficulting understanding.

how would you know if they voted one of every single image? you don't have that info.... but it also NOT TRUE, there are many images that are not rated at all.   And maybe somebody disliked ALL of you images...you know it's possible. A concpet you are strugeling to understand...it's a public vote, people can vote ANY way they want and they don't need to tell you why they did....
then we get to the interesting part, why do you care?  The images are for fun, not to prove youare a great photographer....there are other sites for that.

Trust me I understand your concept plenty.....

I've noticed this for a while now and I think it is a bot (or an extremely immature person). In the last couple months, whatever/whoever is doing this just gives a 1 to every image in the latest images list at irregular intervals. The longer a screenshot stays in the current images list, the more 1 ratings it gets. I got four 1 ratings on my latest screenshot.

I think if it's possible, all previous 1-ratings should be removed and from now on only logged on users should be allowed to rate an image (or forced to comment when rating).

Otherwise, it's best not to have ratings at all (or "Top Ten"). It's useless when 10 people take the time to give an honest rating of an image, then some idiot/bot just trashes it without a thought.

On the other hand, the ratings mean nothing.

Ratings are an incentive for people to submit the best stuff they can and a way for people to reward someone who does great work. It also helps people find what others consider to be "the best".

When looking at a "top ten" list, people are looking for what others consider to be "the best" - not "some random average images that managed to escape having their ratings trashed".

It is true, and I'm not the only one who believes it.

Doubt it as I've never recieved a "1".

Its now become a pointless public vote because of one mindless individual, perhaps its you who is responsible?

I don't like pointless criticism and idiotic behaviour.

"I don't like pointless criticism and idiotic behaviour."

then you should stop now....

Yeah , great idea just blame me...brilliant detective work.

Also you now do have a 1 now..... don't worry...they can't all be winners, I think this will be a great life lesson for you.

Anyway while some of your shots are good, most have bad composition, esp the computer chips.  But thats just me... I do have a degree in fine art if that makes this more constructive for you.  Also they are very cliche and conceptualy emply.  When you take a picture it helps the viewer if you have a vision or a point.  Whats in the BG does matter, when you shoot he amiga your lighting is flat and the colors are cold...not good product photos.

That being said my pictures are just garbage from an artisic perspective. Just hackzor porn.. waiting for 1's

BTW here is the best phot of them all!

This thread has become really pathetic. For the brainless idiots out there who seem to be incapable of interpreting the simplest thread, I will explain in explicit detail exactly *why* I find this behaviour annoying.

Whether or not *you* *personally* value the ratings on the photos, I do. I like to see what people think of my screenshots, and particularly my PSU hack. The day I submitted the photos, I looked down the list of recent submissions and they had ALL been rated with a 1. I find it very difficult to believe that somebody looked at all of those pictures and in a balanced and open-minded way decided that they were all deserving only of a 1. So I can only conclude that somebody is giving all of the pictures an arbitrary rating out of spite.

For the record: this does not annoy me because I have a superiority complex, because I think people "don't like me" or because I can't fathom that my pictures do not deserve a low rating. If somebody genuinely believes that one of my photos deserves a low rating then fine, give it a low rating and maybe leave a comment explaining what you didn't like. But when a whole load of pictures are consecutively given a rating of 1 for no good reason, then somebody is behaving very spitefully.

Another thing to be considered with people rating everything 1 (or 10 for that matter) is that it removes the feedback mechanism.  The rating allows considerate posters to gauge what kind of stuff people want to see.  If I post two different wallpapers that I have made and one gets a high rating and the other gets a low rating, then I know that people want more stuff like the former and I will not post stuff like the latter again.

Has anyone noticed a high number of 5.5 ratings on images with only two votes? i.e. (10+1)/2 = 5.5.  Is there a "10" bandit too?
