And nothing is illegal when we change our own AMIGA ROMS, if it remains in private use, without being released. We have purchased original ROMs (with AMIGA or only chip).
Well, the question is - do you own a legal copy of OS3.9 for those machines?
But a question remains: if I, French, I change the ROM and I invent the ROM 3.9.3: what are the risks? AMIGA.COM is still down and nobody knows who retains the rights to the ROMS and sources.
The risk of getting chased by Amiga Inc. or even Haage & Partner is rather low, I suspect. The risk of getting a "stop doing that, or else ..." from Hyperion and/or Cloanto a little higher. The risk of getting chased around on the web, being banned from certain sites, mailed and harassed by their volunteering crowd of henchmen, though, is rather high. Whether any of them actually have legal grounds to stand on for harassing people over this is an interesting question.
It is very strange what is happening right now: the announcement of Hyperion, the website AMIGA.COM, the false announcement COMMODORE USA ...
Nah, it's same old same old, really
