Why, as far as I can remember, there were a lot of people who was sad, when pe2000.net went dowm

But if people want to flame me, then go ahead, i couldn't care less :-P  :-P  :-P

Flaming can't hurt me. I don't think much of people who flame others, they can disagree and call them bad names, but flaming is a wast of time, since they dont know me.

And besides, if one still could get a hold of the old games for the amiga, in stores or over the net, and i'm not talking about Ebay now, there wouldn't be that many roms around, and i would be much happier if i could get the games on floppy, rather than going this way.

When you say "Amiga roms", do you mean actual roms, or are you using the emulamer term for games? I can't access the site from here.

@Guyver

While it is usefull to have links for old Amiga games that have no legal problems in us downloading them, i do think you need to be carefull on posting sites that also carry illegal Amiga Kickstart roms.
Correct me if i'm wrong but isnt that one of them on that site "Kickstart 1.3"

Calen, i'm well aware of the problem.
Just wasn't thinking about it.

But in my own oppinion i don't a problem downloading from a site that host games, that really can't find anywere anymore, do you?????

If the sites host newer games like Heretic 2 og Quake 1/2....and that sort of games, then i have a problem with, becuase then you are hurting the profit of companies that are still making games for the Amiga today. And we dont wanna loose them.

I know i wont.....because, if we loose the games, then i belive that the number of active users would drop.....not that people only use the amiga for gaming, but a lot of people do :-)  :-)

They are not ROMs.  They are images of game disks.
Consoles (like the Sega Genesis or the Nintendo SNES) stored their games on ROM cartridges.  So, when a console game is dumped it is often referred to as a "ROM".

Computers on the other hand, (such as the PC, the Apple Mac, or the Amiga) store their software on disk, or on CD-ROM, or more recently DVD.

Certain computers (such as the C64, Vic-20,  or the Atari 800) did have a cartridge port which could accept games on ROM cartridge but this made the games very expensive to produce and so most games were on floppy disk or on cassette tape.

If you download some software like this it is not a ROM.  The only "ROM"s ever available for Amiga is the kickstart ROM.  There is a (broken) link to kick1.3 on that page but you seemed to be referring to the disk images...

If you download a game for your PC do you call it a "ROM"?

EmuLamers coming on Amiga IRC channels begging for "Roms for playing on Amiga emulator" really p**s me off, sorry.

I see.  and can you tell me the exact timeframe after which a programmer has finished a project that it is ok to begin stealing his work?  1 year? 2 years?

Actually 90% of sales of a new game are in the first three months, so I guess we should start pirating games after it's been out for 3 months, after all the developers have already recieved most of the money they were going to get, so it's not like they'd be losing anything.  Makes sense?

now you are just plain silly.

Use your brain instead of asking such silly question.

I talking about games that you can buy anymore, not even the company who produced it.

Like games from Team17, Core desing, Ocean, Bitmap Brothers......i'm sure you know the rest ;-)  ;-)  ;-)

I'm not saying that is okay make illegal copies of games, well maybe on the pc :-D  :-D  :-D  :-D

okay bad joke, couldn't help it

You might have guessed it by know, that i was talking about the games, that some people would call abandonware

But what is abandonware, people say that a game is abandonware, when you can buy it anymore. But a game is not abandonware before, the company who made it, say it is.

I could be wrong, but how come the you dont find any true abandonware-version of team17 games anywere?????
Well it could be because that the true abandonware sites, the legal 1's, hasn't premission from the companies, and that bug's me. Because if the company has no plans what so ever with the game in question, then why the #### wont they allow it, to be released as abandonware????

I might be a long reply and it may be a little confusing.

I you dont understand my point, i'll gladly tell it again in here or by P-mail
