Catweasel Flipper for WinUAE.
« on: February 03, 2003, 01:31:01 PM »
Well my first attempt at getting this set up failed miserably. Maybe it's me, so i just walked away from it before i blow my top, I had plenty of distractions, I'll try again soon. Meanwhile I figured I'd ask again if anyone else got theirs and if they set it up for use with WinUAE yet?

The reason that it did sell miserably if it did is because of the poor driver support for it.

All the drivers that I seen lacked one thing or another which puts doubt in my mind if it even works.

I'm not paying for something that's not real.

:-? As I recall, until the Catweasel came along there was no way to read Amiga formatted floppy disks on another platform, so the author(s) of UAE didn't program floppy support into UAE.  I suspect that until UAE is re-written to use the Catweasel, you'll have to continue with .adf files...

well, I got mine today (err.. make that yesterday), but Im not having a great deal of success with the UAE drivers either.

Im thinking it might be to do with the fact that I installed the windows drivers first, and had to disable them as per teh instructions so that I could install the UAE drivers.

Will have another go tomorrow night probably...

@ redrumloa

It works!  :-D

I think the problem lay in the fact that I had disabled the card in the windows system window and so the IO space the card needed had been taken away from it.

I have currently re-enabled it, but have not yet rebooted, so windows has not re-enabled the drivers.

Not pretty, but it seems to have worked.

I am not sure how I am going to persuade it to leave the card enabled without installing the drivers.

hmm, the soloution I am using to read the disks in WinUAE appears to use an windows IO library to access the PC hardware directly, and the emulator uses the real amiga multidisk.device, so I would be surprised if a similar soloution could not be created for Amithlon, its the same hardware after all...

Has anyone got the catweasel pci/flipper to work with Amithlon?

If so what driver did you use?
How and where did you install the driver?
