Amiga 2000HD SCSI drive upgrade?
« on: December 21, 2018, 08:40:27 PM »
So I have an A2000HD with the standard A2091 SCSI controller. Is there any advantage to replacing the old 2.1gb SCSI hard drive with a faster drive like a Cheetah drive? (I have a 9.2gb cheetah drive) I would not go over the 4gb limit or is the juice not worth the squeeze?

Any modern drive will be faster than the controller W/O an accelerated controller. Get at least a GVP Combo card and now you start to get some speed.

The 10K drive will surely have a much shorter seek time which will help a little, especially when confronted with some file system fragmentation. Whether it's worth it though I doubt, especially if you're running a 68000.
