Wanted: A3000 power supply

Hey all,
   I am working on one of the last basket case 3000's i have and its short a psu. Does anyone in the USA have a dead or alive one they can spare? i would even take a empty 3000 psu case.
 i could also use a Harddrive drive sled and floppy sled if you have those too!

Until you track one down, Amigakit sells an ATX to A3000 adapter for cheap. I got one for my test bench.

 Thanks for this,but i am trying to complete a 3000 with the original psu, i just need the case mainly.

I actually stock all the parts to build the adapters and have the molex A3000 plugs and crimp pins.

Sorry to dredge up this old thread, but if it helps at all, I've just written this guide on converting the A3000 power supply between 240V and 120V input, i.e. between European and USA models.

I've not tried this personally, it's based on an Email conversation I had with genny_flick (Thylacine Mini developer) who has verified it.  I've written some user-friendly steps and a few photos.

Would be interesting to hear feedback from successful conversions.


The usual warnings apply for working on AC mains powered equipment; don't touch they hurty bits, don't open the power supply if you're not fully confident working with AC mains, etc.

Good to know they can be converted.
I think i found a couple of errors in the text on your site.. you list the transistor as MJE130076,but i think it is supposed to be MJE13007G...the link to element14 on your page doesn't work for this.
They seem to have high prices,as this transistor state side is about 87 cents.
the bridge at element 14 is $10,but state side about $5~ i guess this is prob. normal.

I think it is supposed to be MJE13007G...the link to element14 on your page doesn't work for this.

I can make a deal with you if you can help me out.  

I'm trying desperately to bring my A3000 to life, but I think I have a bum Denise chip, the screen is all over the place and it affects the mouse even though I have a video card.

If you can help me source a 8373 ECS Denise chip, I will gift wrap this power supply and send it to you.  If I happen to finally find a Denise chip, I will still send this to you, but I'm desperate at the moment and I need me some leverage.  LOL

Have you checked for corrosion in the Denise socket?  That causes similar problems and tends to be more likely than a Denise fault.  When the A3000 battery leaks it can corrode the Paula and Denise sockets which causes poor/intermittent contacts with the ICs.  If the socket contacts look a bit green or blue instead of shiny, then replace the socket(s).  They're both DIP48.

Often you can test it; press on Denise while viewing an ECS display and if you see display changes happening as you move Denise, then replace the socket.

And U202/U203 heating issues are another common cause of graphics memory/display corruption.

I have done the same conversion years ago and it works fine. Also the A3000T PSUs can be converted between 240V/120V quite similarly.
