Quake2 PowerPC Exception
« on: June 14, 2007, 09:23:57 PM »
Hi all,

I always get a PowerPC Exception when I want to load a game in Quake 2. If I play from the beginning everything works good.

I have a A1200, BPPC 060/200, G-REX, Voodoo3 3000, OS3.9 BB2, WOS 5.1, Warp3D 4.2a.

I also got the exception with an A4000D with CSPPC, G-REX ...

Does anyone have the same problems ?

Regards

Reiner

Have you updated your Quake 2 (you need to login first :-))? Also note that don't use any other PPC/WarpOS app when running Quake 2 (you are using WarpOS 5.1 right?). It might also be an overheating problem on the PPC, proper cooling advised.

really? how many fps u get then?
when I tried it on the A1200/ppc-200mhz setup it was crawling! 7-10fps, I thought even double for the csppc it does not worth the trouble!
also I don't have any updates...

@Bamiga2002

Yes, I have installed the updates.

There are no other PPC/WOS apps running.

I use WOS 5.1, Warp3D 4.2a.

I don't think it's a cooling problem. If I play from beginning I don't get a Exception and can play for one or more hours.

Yes the tower was ready and i used it for a day or two, then the Mediator went bust . Some driver problem like i explained at EAB. Now the Mediator is at Elbox, they should repair it or send a replacement. I'm still waiting...

do you have "menory protection" disabled in WOS pref?
and try to disable waitstates (at least for PPC) in the memory section of the BPPC/CSPPC early startup menu.

Which demo did you timedemo?

PS. Timerefresh is useless as benchmark, the actual speed depends on the location you're at (face floor and you get uberhigh framerates).
