Yes !!! I love Cinemaware too !!!  rocket ranger !!!

defender of the crown

and Microprose:

Gunship-pirates

Agree with your Defender of the Crown, Rocket Ranger and pirates..

but I was disappointed with Gunship, I thought it only looked moderately better than the C64 version.

What about flight sim's? Within the limits of polygons I suppose, but I recall Combat Air Patrol looked pretty wild, at times.

How about:

MS Flight Simulator - For the time, it was amazing graphics compared to the other computers running the same game.

Defender of the Crown was drop dead gorgeous.  Jim Sachs is the Bob Ross of computer graphics...

Wasn't there some robot fighting game that nobody seemed to like after it came out but it had some super awesome graphics?

And i must say that i find old games more special and creative than new games, they had some cool ideas, how to make games special back in the day :)

I remembered Little Divil :) Has top notch cartoon graphics.
Also Wasted Dreams, Chaos Engine, Nippon Safes Inc (but pretty much all adventure games have nice graphics).
Glory to the loud-mouthed Scotsman !

Deliverance always made a big impression on me. But it's hard to name a definitive best looking game IMO.

A game that impressed me at the time (and I was a huge fan of the arcade game) was Dragon's Lair.

The conversion of the animation was pretty darn good, full screen, and streaming from floppies...

(And required 1M RAM, UNLESS you had an Amiga 1000, where it could use the kickstart RAM space.  Tricky there.. Not sure any other game did that..)

For the time, that was impressive...

Amiga 1200 w/ ACA1230/28 - 4G CF, MAS Player, ext floppy, and 1084S.
Amiga 500 w/ 2M CHIP and 8M FAST RAM, DCTV, AEHD floppy, and 1084S.
Amiga 1000 w/ 4M FAST RAM, DUAL CF hard drives, external floppy.

Some of the adventure games probably qualify too. Both Beneath a Steel Sky and Simon the Sorcerer look great.

The Sentinel is great looking regardless of system. I just really enjoy those simple vector graphics and the weird perspective distortion, and it all really fits with the mood of the game.

For a less controversial pick I guess I'd say Another World.
