If its a standard 1mb Kick1.3 CDTV I wouldnt think its possible to play from CD - If you have more memory & Kick update probably possible
You can of course play from Floppy if you have an external Floppy drive.

Thanks for your reply... I was thinking that probably disk and CD games are quite similar... (i.e. Turrican II). I thought: not just change the startup sequence to boot from CD and leave the files on the floppy as they are? I don't have external floppy for CDTV... Thanks a lot

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a DOS disk so it's not merely a case of changing the startup sequence. Unless you upgrade the kickstart ROM (I think that is possible) then WHDLoad isn't an option. You can use any old Amiga external floppy drive, the only special thing about the CDTV one is that it's black. :biglaugh: Keys can often be an issue with non-CDTV games though I don't think you'll have a problem in this case. Mind you, I didn't get very far into Beast 1. It's impossible!

It goes without saying that cheating helps. I knew about "ten pints" but even with that, you only have to screw up once and you've got to start again. Gah! I saw my friend finish it once (with help from a magazine) but I never did it myself.

Should be possible. Very possible if you have an external floppy drive.

Ah, you know any Amiga external floppy drive will work. Doesn't have to be a CDTV one.

There was no CDTV version of this game and so no ISO files exist, unless an enthusiast has made one using the WHDload hard drive installer.

Nope they are not.

Just not possible. Most games do not have file loaders but disk loaders. They hit the floppy disk hardware directly instead of going through the Operating System. You may be able to load the first file but as soon as the program goes to load more data it will not work.

You could make your own ISO, it will require you using the Amiga SDK(for the CDTV boot files), WHDload + Shadow of the Beast slave, MakeCD and WinUAE.

You'd have to read up on how to make CDTV bootable discs. (Probably want to use more than once source)

Shouldn't take more than 20-30 mins to learn and another 20-30 mins to execute. First you should ascertain if your CDTV can read CD-R discs before

But WHDLoad needs kickstart 2.0? Or at least the latest version does.

Ah, the answer is no then. You cannot play Shadow of the Beast on YOUR CDTV.

You're gonna have to buy either an external floppy drive.

Or new ROM's for your CDTV (Remember that you need both CDTV and Kickstart ROMs)

What about JST then?  I think there is a version of Beast out there that was made for AIAB that used JST.

Does that require kickstart 2.0?
