X5000, Workbench Resolution and an R7 250
« on: November 18, 2018, 01:41:34 AM »
Hey there,

I have an X5000 and I'm working through setup and getting to know the machine using AmigaOS 4 Every Day. I'm running an R7 250 (confirmed with a flashlight, anyone know how to find this in software?).

Page 101 of the book mentions setting a screen resolution of Board:1920x1080 ARGB2 but the highest resolution I see in screen is 1280x720 (which I'm running fine). I'm updated to version 1.4 of the Enhancer software.

The RadeonMem dockapp reports something like 180/240Mb of Gfx RAM and a Card mem of 1792/7192Mb.

I've updated the Enhancer Pack from 1.3 to version 1.4 (Plus Edition) using Updater. Although there are the following updates that I am told are "not available for download on this AmiSphere account".

RadeonHD.chip(v3) 2.22 -> 3.6
RadeonHD.chip.debug(v3) 2.22 -> 3.6
RadeonRX.chip -> 1.11
RadeonRX.chip.debug > 1.11

Am I missing something? Do I need to buy/install some more drivers?

@amigakit is this something you can help with?

Thanks in advance amigans.

BTW the experience of running an "modern" Amiga in 2018 is pretty amazing to me. I'm really looking forward to getting AmigaOS 4 dialed-in.

If you're getting a max resolution of 1280x720 on a monitor that supports 1920x1080, then you're still using the lite version of the driver that came with the OS (i.e., you haven't even installed v1.x/2.x yet).

You can double-check the version by entering the following in a shell window:
version RadeonHD.chip

If it comes back with a version 0.x, then you're using the lite driver.

Hi

To activate the RadeonHD v3.6 download you need to buy the latest Enhancer Software Graphics Card Upgrade from AMIStore.  You will receive a significant discount during checkout as you are a registered Enhnacer Software v1 user.  See news release for more information here:

version RadeonHD.chip reports 2.22, consistent with the Update tool.

Monitor definitely supports 1920x1080 (ASUS VE248H).

Looks beautiful. Thanks @amigakit and @Hans_ for the help.

Did you take a look at the settings in the monitor tab in screenmode prefs ?  With dvi it should automatic detect your monitor and resolutions.

For some reason, I was expected the "Detect Settings Automatically" checkbox to apply immediately instead of after I saved. Monitor mode detection is working just fine.

Thanks!
