Quick and dirty review of SuperJoyBox 7
« on: May 07, 2015, 11:17:36 PM »
Picked up one of these after my disappointing purchase of the retro Atari lookalike joystick.

When I got it in I opened the box and it is pretty simple to look at.  USB on 1 end going into a little black box with a 3 position switch labeled P W S.

From what I've heard the "P" stands for joy pad, "W" is wheel, and "S" is Joy Stick.  I set mine to S as I wanted to utilize my Wico Ergo stick.

I was lucky in that the seller included the DB15 Gameport to DB9 adapter.

Plugged everything together and fired up the computer after plugging the USB into an open port.

Winblows7 chummed along for a couple of minutes then found the correct driver and installed it.

Fired up Amiga Forever and picked a game at random.

Sucker works like an absolute top!  In fact, it almost feels a bit faster than on my Amiga 500 and 2000.

So, for the money ($12 approx) plus the time to adapt from a DB-9 to DB-15 gameport plug, you can use your favorite Amiga joystick on your PC.

Just my 2 cents.

Curtis

p.s.  If anyone wants the pinout between the DB-9 and DB-15, let me know and I'll post it.

I did a search on ebay for gameport usb and this is one that popped up.

There were several more also.

The one I picked up also had a DB-15 gameport to DB-9 adapter that was a homebrew.
