Help w/ AmigaOS 4.1 Final and Picasso II Install
« on: January 24, 2016, 05:48:40 AM »
Hello all,

I'm looking for ideas on installing AmigaOS 4.1 Final and getting it to work with my Picasso II card.

I installed OS 4.1 on a fresh partition.  The install went just fine.  I selected the Picasso II as my video card, and selected NOT to do BootVGA, since it seemed unnecessary.  The system then did its first reboot and came up in 320 x 200 NTSC (?!).  It automatically brought up Screen Mode to select a better resolution, but 1. No Picasso II resolutions were available and 2. No matter how hard I clicked Use or Save, none of the higher AGA modes would "stick".  The Test button would work, but then the system would freeze after coming back from that option.

Any suggestions?

Extraneous details:
1. Using Cyberstorm PPC in a 4000T
2. Installed on a second partition (first is OS 3.9)
3. Picasso II, and everything else, works great in 3.9.

Addendum:
Well, nevermind.  I reinstalled, and this time selected VGABoot, and I got a much more useable screen.  I still have no Picasso II modes, but I can probably solve that with Picasso96.

Thanks for any suggestions,
- Bo
