Title: backup copy program
Post by: amigakid on June 08, 2016, 07:53:27 AM
What is the best program to use to backup original games (mainly ones like Psygnosis and other hard to crack ones)?  I want to make backup copies of the originals I have that have on disk copy protection.  Also is there anyone that has disk number one of Leander and Sword of Sodan?  Mine don't work and would like to have a working copy.  Also is there a program that can grab the disk image to store on a thumb drive or something (thinking about getting one of the compact flash drives or USB thumb bays for my Amiga 4000 and would love to copy my large software library so when original disks fail I can copy a new one.  Suggestions are welcome as well as if anyone has any copies of these programs.

Most original disks cannot be backupped without using additional hardware.
In the old days there was Cyclone (from the makers of X-Copy) which could backup most disks.
This program also had a piece of hardware which was put between the floppy-port and the external disk drive.

For more modern solutions there is the SuperCard Pro (https://www.cbmstuff.com/proddetail.php?prod=SCP) from Jim Drew and the Kryoflux (http://www.kryoflux.com/) from the creators of X-Copy.

Agreed, everything. But sometimes it took a very long time on Syncro mode as my drives probably differed a bit on speed.

Great thanks for the info all, I will start trying to hunt some of those down.  With some games hitting close to the 30 year mark I don't expect the floppies to last too much longer.  Does anyone have the first disk of Leander or Sword of Sodan by the way?  I need to replace mine.
