Whats best version of Amiga Minesweeper and Solitaire!
« on: October 10, 2003, 01:35:30 PM »
Hello!

The time has come where i am fed up of using PC windows machines. I am getting my Amiga connected to my internet soon and now its time for me to get minesweeper and solitaire, before i rip my hair out with anger (aka the crashing).

So, what's the best version of minesweeper and solitaire? I laready have minesweeper v1.1:-

http://www.dcs.ed.ac.uk/home/mxr/mine/

And that seems pretty okay, i also tried MUIMine, but that didn't work. As for solitaire, i couldn't find anything yet.

The GoldED editor ships with a minesweeper plug-in to entertain you while compiling :-)

I use Lazymines (like the windoze one) and Klondike AGA (very relaxing) on my A1200.  Search for "REKO Klondike" on Aminet (IIRC there are multiple LHAs)

Thanks for the replies guy. I tried lazymines, and that was pretty great, just like the windoze one. I also managed to find a solitaire game at:

http://ftp.uni-paderborn.de/pub/aminet/game/think/soliton200.lha

I think its pretty good. I didn't bother with that klondike game, as i think it runs in AGA mode only don't it? And i would prefer it to run in workbench.

Has anyone tried WBAsteroids, thats totally kick ass! :-)

Solitaire:

I loved Klondike 3, but it uses HAM8 and unfortunately can't be coaxed to RTG, shame 'cause if it was less sluggish it would be great.

There's one on the AROS CD IIRC, which is really good, I spent all day on that  :-)

Minesweeper:

MUIMine! How come it didn't work for you?

Regarding, Klondike 3, that is exactly the same reason why i didn't even attempt to try it.

As for MUIMINE, i dunno what happened. where is the icon to start it up? Yeah, i also installed it! But couldn't get the bugger up and running? I don't seem to geddit. Do i have to download something else?!

Well, assuming of course you have MUI installed  ;-) ... to install it manually you just copy the contents of the 'progfiles'  directory in the archive into a folder on your HD called 'MUIMine', then copy the 'images' folder (as a folder, not just the contents of it) into the MUIMine folder as well.

The last thing to do is rename these files:

minefieldimage.col > def_minefieldimage
facebuttonimage.yellow > def_facebuttonimage
digitsimage.7seg.red > def_digitsimage

This is to choose the default images for the minesweeper window. You can change them later from within the program, but it's possible that MUIMine won't start without the default image files being named.

There's more in-depth docs about it in the archive that's on Aminet.

@that_punk_guy

Thanks for that info. I will try MUIMINE again, see what happens this time. Did you try out Soliton 2000, which is both Solitaire and Freecell, that is totally kick ass! Me thinks you will like it! Very good indeed! :-)

Soliton 2000? My Soliton Klondike 2.00 is dated 1999. Typo?
Never had any problems with MUIMine, other than getting through the expert level.

Ah, I did that once after all - with the score 928.
So you have the strings in your palm. Do you know what they are for?

Yeah! Sorry, it was probably that, Soliton Klondike 2.00. I haven't downloaded MUIMINE again yet, but am eager to try it out and follow that_punk_guy 's guide! :-)

Good news fellas! :-) MUIMINE now works! It totally kicks ass and i just love the quake images! :-) Very good indeed. This time i did get an icon called MUIMINE to start the game, i didn't last time, so i dunno what happened there. Thanks for the info anyway that_punk_guy.

I can't believe though that no-one has bothered to try Soliton 2.00, i reckon that it probably beats Klondike AGA! :-)
