Nice!
-
Great! (not HiRes pictures)
Thanks

I suppose these are the 5 evaluation boards used to verify the design. Once that has been done and all the kinks have been worked out the beta boards will be produced.
It's a start but I still get a feeling the actual shipping product is long way off.
-
Nice! Good work, now hurry up! :)
-
Very good... Better late than never

I only see one board in each picture, so I think your wrong assuming that it's the 5 eval boards :)

good news :-)

Oh nice :-) Good news

Good news indeed!

Mail from today:
"London, 8th April 2011
"The real McCoy"
A-EON Technology is pleased to announce that the first samples of the eagerly anticipated revision 2 Nemo motherboard, destined for the AmigaOne X1000 Beta Test programme, have rolled off the production line. The AmigaOne X1000 is a culmination of efforts by real Amiga enthusiasts and developers to create powerful, modern desktop hardware for the Amiga Operating System.
Let's "Keep this party going!"
The AmigaOne X1000 is not like other computers. It is the natural evolution of the Amiga's PowerPC lineage and is based on the über cool, PA-Semi Dual-core PA6T-1682M CPU, it includes Xena, a "Software Defined Silicon" co-processor, and above all it runs the latest version of the AmigaOS.
Please visit the A-EON Technology website at http://www.a-eon.com (http://www.a-eon.com) for more details.

and they're not talking about Linux or Android with added wallpaper. :D
-
Neat... :)
At least with the X1000 were getting a genuine product on the way that will be worth waiting for... :)

But will it fit into a brown breadbox?

OK, so this confirms that it's the first samples Piru is talking about, and that the beta tester boards are to follow, should this work well enough.
Slow progress, but progress nevertheless.
-
But will it fit into a brown breadbox?
Doubt it... but at least it's something that will fit in with the REAL AMIGA Community... :)

Oh good grief... it's okay to admit you use the bunny. Everyone does whether they say so or not. Besides, on the bunny everybody knows to go by IP anyway.

i have nothing against any other amiga-related forum BUT someone used my email-adress that is intended for concert-/eventbooking there and pretended to be me. this is annoying, this email-adress is for my "business": http://www.myspace.com/xdirt-edgex
this guy added some anti-cusa text to the post which i havent included in the original post. even if i dislike some things, cusa is doing, i still want to post my thoughts about cusa myself.

One thing I'd like to see, but am not sure if they would, is to change as many x1 PCI-Express slots to x16 slot plastic, regardless if they remain x1 electronically. The one between the two x16 slots might be lengthened if the chip there can be slid down a bit, not sure how difficult that layout change might be. My philosophy has become x16 slot plastic for all PCI-Express slots as possible, even if they only connect as x1, x4, x8 whatever, just to allow more possibility of plugging things in, as a x16 card will still work in smaller xN connection slots as long as it can physically slide into place.

At this stage in the process, that kind of changes simply won't happen.

Who are you?
There's no way Franko would think a PPC motherboard would "fit in with the REAL AMIGA Community".
It's good to hear that the beta test boards are rolling out.

Interesting stuff. I hope the software is catching up. I know they had some USB troubles recently

Someone copied one of my posts too, under my name, though they didn't edit it.

Recently?
this was just from a cursory poke at amigaworld. It looked like a recent update broke some things. I know the state of USB has been kind of dubious

must be someone without an own identity :hammer:

Not sure if this has been posted before or not, but once they do start shipping completed boards, can the mainboards be purchased alone, or do you have to buy the entire completed machine? (I would like to build my own with a custom case...)
-
they plan to sell the nemo-motherboard aka the x1000 as a complete system: the amigaone x1000. but maybe im wrong and things have changed. can someone clear the situation? thx :-)

Complete built rigs only, last I heard. Which removed any interest I had in them, so I'll stick with the SAM's.

according to statements by trevor and others involved, it will not be possible to purchase the X1000 motherboard stand-alone. the system ships complete, including memory, storage, video card, keyboard, mouse, etc. IIRC, they may sell the cases via amigakit, however, for folks wanting; but the motherboard cannot be purchased by itself.

Thank you sir!
Well that is a bummer as I intended a custom build... Hard to part with the kind of cash they are asking and then take it apart and customize it from there... May have to go the SAM route as well...

if cusa are a sucsess i fear it will force aeon and hyperion to rethink their choice. so i think they will make an option to only sell the x1000 motherboard inluding the aos4 in one package at lower prices. if not they will be sitting there with their north of 1500, x1000 machines in stock and collecting dust...

finally some real Amiga news.......SWEEEEEEEEEET :pint::banana: I'm gonna toast that virgin X1000 tonight at dinner & can only imagine what that first board will be worth in years to come

Yawn.....the 5 "pre-production" boards that should have been finished about a year ago. Sorry if I just can't get excited about this. At this rate, there'll be 25 total boards produced by 2015 and the price will triple.....not to mention that these boards are using 2004 technology anyway. The wack-jobs on this site get excited over the most ridiculous things...

ya and why do the trolls on this site get away with posting nonsense every bloody time any announcement on new AmigaOS4.x hardware is announced :madashell:
so here we go again:evil: just who the hell forced you to read this clearly marked thread on the X1000 only to troll:rolleyes:
If you're not interested in the X1000 DON'T READ THREADS MARKED X1000

Agreed, no trolling please.

" Personally, I would like see a range of machines, built around the new multi-core PowerPC CPU’s that are being developed by Freescale and others, which could run AmigaOS, MorphOS and AROS (plus Linux) and finally bring some unity and harmony to all flavours of the community."
As long as Ben Hermans is one of his partners, that ain't happening.

That's the part that baffles me. I've traded messages with Trevor and he is a genuinely nice guy. And he holds out hope about supporting multiple OS'. Plus he's run each of the OS' he mentioned.
Somehow he must have missed some of his partners public statements (that still haunt the internet).
Hermans on more than one occasion has questioned the legality of both MorphOS and AROS.

I guess he's the best example of hardcore amiga spirit. He doesn't feel he can miss out on any amiga flavour :)

Better late than never.
And never doubt the Piru..."At the time of writing, the first five revision 2 Nemo motherboards are about to be delivered for evaluation "
-

Whatever happens with this machine, Trevor has my utmost respect. He's a proper enthusiast, just like us....but richer. Which is why I won't be getting one, I just can't justify the expense.

Personally, I'll wait for the successor. An e5500 cored board would be cool.

If it makes a real difference to you in getting an X1000, I might be able to buy the case & PSU from your X1000 so you can put it into a different case. I might want to put an A4000D into it, if it doesn't require too much difficult modifications to make it fit and work properly. That probably won't work for you though, if you are just trying to get a reduced cost X1000.

Buddy you should warned me oh yeah baby thats what talking about
Those boards look Awsome great pic made me year

Spiffy stuff.

Thanks for the update! I use AOS4.1 daily, and I enjoy it. But the price of this one out of the gate is just too steep. Christ my SAM ran near $1000 for the mobo alone 2+ years ago. Gotta pay to play in this market. Ideally, OS4 would run on the Mac PPC machines. The AmigaOne being full prebuilt PC is a mistake people have been telling them since day one, still true today.

And you have Never said anything on the internet that has upset someone, somewhere???????
Life's too short, get over it, or there's no future for (or any flavour of) this platform.

Who gives a f###? Go out and buy an AmigaOS4 system or don't. My company had CEO's that weren't nice guys at all - but still we're able to get nice products to the market and have customers who happily buy what we're developing. Did d###heads like Mehdi Ali hold you back from purchasing an Commodore Amiga? Jack Tramiel btw wasn't a handsome person as well (same goes for Steve Jobs...) There are people from the MorphOS team I might not exactly really like - but nevertheless I like MorphOS and happily paid for it.
