Unfortunately the data centre is down since yesterday and so many websites are down consequently.

Lets hope they can resolve it soon.

@goldfish

The server is still in the stone age, its admin 101 basics to log in remotly and update the server.

Until the hosting provider has actually started the particular (virtual) server again, there's not a lot the customer (in this case AmigaKit) can do.

See also Orgin's explanation over at Amigans.

Best regards,

Niels

In this time and age it’s not uncommon to use at least two providers for redundancy, or at the very least two locations of the one provider.

But amiga web sites tend to be hosted in a fashion that is almost as retro as the platform itself :)

For business or society critical applications/sites, yes. Amigaworld (and AmigaDeveloper, btw) is hardly that, however much we might miss them.

Best regards,

Niels

It's not so much a question of how critical a service is, as much as it is about what methods and technology is used to implement the service, and what the total cost is. It can very well be cheaper to implement "the modern" way than to stick with the old.

Well I am considering taking down AmigaWorld.net for a period of time and transition it to the same forum software as used here and AmigaDeveloper.com.

Regrettably AmigaWorld.net is showing its age and it is time to coordinate it with it's sister websites.

Is there is a way to retain the existing default look and feel of Amigaworld.net with new more secure forum software?

I have difficulty reading Amiga.org with any web browser.  The layout of the Recent Forum Topics page just doesn't make sense to me.  I think maybe it is the choices used for fonts.  For me, the subjects seem to blend into each other.  Maybe it would help if the subject was in bold font.  Once I'm into an actual forum thread, it's ok.

As long as it is still Amiga browser friendly A-OK with me!
