Cloanto 2009 Boot CD

I have a simple question, but i'm unable to find the information on the internet.

I own the Amiga Forever 2009 from Cloanto. It's possible to boot from that cd and run OS 3.x on a x86 machine without to boot an other OS first. But i want to know what kind of emulation they use for it. The cd boot's faster than my XP/W7 installation.

I'm planning to make a desktop machine to run OS 3.x native. The benefits is that's it's faster and cheaper than an original Amiga. For example: whit sysinfo i get 637 Mips and 681 mflops on my machine. Think there's no turbo card that can be that vast. And i'm thinking to build this into an Amiga 500 case.

You wrote that you own AF2009, so you already bought it, didn't you?

The distro is Knoppix, the emulator is one of the Linux UAE derivates, don't know which, probably E-UAE.

Why not just use a porper linux dist, best of both worlds then.
 
That dist is designed to be used as a live cd.
 
You would be better off going with ubunto or ( insert fav linux dist) , will still boot resally fast compared to windows.

If you don't mind running a very minimalistic Windows backbone (that you will never even see, when setup properly), I've had extremely good luck with systems setup described in the following PDF.

This boots faster than ubuntu. I also have ubuntu running on other machines. But this is going to be an Amiga eeehhh call it clone.

@Duce, i think a stripped of linux disto can boot baster than an XP installation. What i'm missing in the manual is getting rid of some services like security center or automatic updates.

/edit: Now i installed it. But it wont go further than a gray screen whit the Amiga forever logo. When im pressing ctrl+alt+f1 i get the console screen whit the error messag: Starting the X windows System... mtrr: your processor doesn't support write-combining.

The advantage of using windows is that winuae is much more advanced than any of the linux versions of UAE

hmmm that's something to think about. Can strip and XP installation to the minimum, so that it can run in 24 meg. Will try that too.

I tried many different things for running a dedicated amiga emulation "clone". After lots of trial and error I ended up using a copy of windows xp, stripped it down as bare bones as I could. Next, remove windows and replace with winuae/os3.9 as the shell.
 
You can also remove the windows boot screens and so on so you'll never even see windows (Unless you need to fix something) This is a very workable solution and works the best of everything I tried.
 
I tried for a long time to use the knoppix installation, but its buggy and under developed, and limited to 800x600 unless you mess with the xorg configuration files and so on, and even then its not very stable.
 
I think windows underneath but kind of stripped and removed is the best way to go, and I tried everything. Yes takes a bit longer to boot but once booted, its very stable and usable. I rarely need a reboot.
 
Who knew windows could be so stable. You just need to replace the windows shell with Amiga OS! hahaha

Well put, Haywire.  I'm EXTREMELY happy with my minimal XP install that boots right into 3.1.  Hell, even the WinUAE plugin for my G 19 keyboard LCD screen works.
