Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I wondered why I got a warning from BB that saying the game and panel is too big together! It looks better to have it above the game. So i don't really want to change it. I will think of NTSC users next time :)

However, I have compiled a new version for NTSC with the panel below the game. So now you at least see the ground. But the panel seem does not display at all (only tested with WinUAE). O well, you can try it if you want:

http://www.hipooniosamigasite.org/smurf/Smurf_Rescue_NTSC.adf
http://www.hipooniosamigasite.org/smurf/Smurf_Rescue_NTSC.lha
I can see the ground now! Yes! (I can't see the panel on the bottom at all, but that's fine.

One more thing, I think the inertia (when you stop, but keep sliding) is too much, makes precision jumps awkward.

Looks nice, looks like you put alot of effort making the game.

Nice game, can see you've spent a lot of time on it. However I must agree about the font on the website, even making the font slightly larger may help.

But the best solution would to use a non hand writing looking font.

On my web browser the font is different, standard print font, not like on the screenshot.
Maybe your default font is changed?

He has changed it to a standard font now as has been suggested. Website is so much easier to read :-)

Hi, I just tried out your games SuperTed and Smurf Rescue. Nice work!

Both worked fine on my A2000. SuperTed loaded and exited cleanly from Workbench. Smurf Rescue would not load from workbench (stopped at a grey screen after a second or so of disk activity), but ran fine when executed without Startup-Sequence. I noticed other Backbone games sometimes act the same way... I think it's a Backbone thing.

As others have said the bottom of the screen on both was cut off on NTSC systems. I didn't mess around with this very much to try to find any work-arounds. I did try the NTSC version of Smurf Rescue, the entire screen was visible just the panel was missing, like you said in your description.

Gameplay-wise the slow rate of fire in SuperTed kind of did it in for me. I didn't like it very much, then again I don't have any kind of nostalgia attachment to this theme I'm sure others do. I really enjoyed gameplay of Smurf Rescue though, but again as someone else said... the inertia could use some work. It was confusing figuring out how far to jump and not over-jump, or slide around. The graphics were great though and I loved your use of samples, I can definitely see myself playing this one more in the future, thanks again! :)

Now to catch up on my backlog of other Amiga programs I wanted to try out, LOL. ;)

That suck dude,  But its not about the age of the computer or numbers involved they have to be seen to defending their IP.  Rubbish that somebody brought it to their attention though.

Don't pay them anything :-)

If your 100% sure it's legit, just remove the game/site and ignore the letter.

Should be easy enough to turn the game in to Churfs - Chinese Smurfs.

I think it requires OCS and therefore only runs on real Amiga.

When I first saw your game posted with the excellently done Smurf logo and very well done copy of the Smurf characters, the first thought that did cross my mind was "I wonder how long it will take the lawyers to see this...".

One of the Intellivision homebrew cartridge makers also recently got the same cease and desist letter for trying to port "Smurf Rescue in Gargamel's Castle" to the Intellivision.

Really, although it sucks, I can't blame Peyo or whoever owns the right from protecting their property.  They have to do it in all cases (large and small) because (to the best of my knowledge) if they don't then it can set a legal precident that they've abandoned their trademark and even make their trademark void.

True they need to protect their rights.
Also true that their request not only for him to stop distributing (fair enough) but also for him to immediately transfer 500 Euros to their bank account for the "legal fees" used in sending one email to him could be seen rather less charitably.
