The thing is with Shadow Of The Beast is that graphically it was amazing but the gameplay is pretty dire infact.

But not that bad when compared to a text adventure.

I suppose it could have been worse.

Carrier Command... Wonderful game and one of the few I actualy beat.

Shadow of the Beat was a good (ie not great) game. Beautiful graphics and some awsome music. I would also suggest Lysander by Reflections.

A couple of other votes for best are Starglider 2, Flood, The Fairy Tale Adventure.

For me?

Trex Warrior.  Man what a game!  I beat the hell out of my A1200 playing that one.  And the f'ing thing wouldn't show me the outro animation or screen text after I'd won.  I beat the final warrior and the game would just go to a black screen. :(
Back away from the EU-SSR!

The day I bought my Amiga 500 I also purchased two games: Space Ace and Shadow of the Beast.  Space Ace was cool especially for someone just coming off the C=64 (the first 3.5" disks I'd ever seen), but Shadow of the Beast made me fall out of my chair.  I immediately knew right then and there that my Amiga would need to be connected to my stereo from that point.  I had never heard any game sound that cool.

I think one of the games that I played a lot was Pool of Radiance from TSR (i.e. Dungeons & Dragons).  One of my favorite games of all time.

I'm kinda with fx & Cu AMiGA with the Shadow of the Beast thing.

Even when I first saw & played it, I remember thinking that the gfx were brilliant, the sfx blew me away but it just didn't feel too great to play. It wasn't until I saw, heard & played F/A-18 Interceptor that I fell for the Amiga.

Putty Squad ! This game is so rare, NO ONE HAS IT ! Well, at least not that I know of. If someone DOES have the full game of this, it HAS to be released on the internet, for every Amiga user in the world to enjoy.

Gosh, if I'd known it was rare I would have ISO'd it before including it in this bundle I sold on eBay a long time ago. (Was a complete new CD32 system too). Notice it in the lower left corner...

I also got "rooked" when I sold this bundle. I replaced the guy's CD32 a month later because his quit working with the agreement that he'd mail me back the dead one (I had a spare CD32 drive I could have replaced it with). Asshat would never respond to my emails after he received the 2nd unit. Some people are dirt.

I agree, Shadow of the Beast blew. All it was good for was sitting on the shelf as a demo in the store to blow away all the poor PC users at the time with it's stunning graphcs and amazing music -- but the gameplay stunk.

If you wanted to play great Amiga games you started off with Dungeon Master, then played Settlers, then moved on to TV Sports Basketball (probably the best Basketball game ever), then played Wayne Gretzky's Hockey (simply amazing), then you dabbled with a little Empire, and topped off the week with some good old turn based warfare with The Perfect General (another brilliant game). Turrican and Turrican 2 were also both fun and had the best Amiga music ever.

But Shadow of the Beast? Bad game, BAD! :)

Mine was:

  1- Darkside
  2- Mirror Magic
  3- Rick Dangerous
  4- Sorcery Plus

I started writing this thinking there was a 5th game on the
disk, but I can't remember now what it was, if there was one...  They were all pretty good games though, although it was a couple of years before I happened to run disksalv 1.x(!) on the disk and Darkside suddenly started working  :-D

Hi!

* Carrier Command: lot of fun.
* AMC (Astro Marine Corp): let´s get hard!
* The lost patrol: I like it´s atmosphere
* Rick Dangerous: simply and good, very good.
* TV Sports Basketball: hyper-customizable, very fun and plenty of good details (like the "sponsors´" advises :D)

And the very best:
* Agony: I love it!!!

Long live Amiga!!!

for a short while, i was addicted to a game called "mouse trap", i don't think it was very popular. then again, i was really young. i'm only 18 [in 3 days], but i haven't seen anyone talk about it or seen it on any sites while i've been browsing amiga stuff.

hmm, it's been about 10 years since i've played amiga. i'm just now starting to get back into the swing of things.
