Playstation 2 - Battery dead?
« on: January 16, 2011, 07:53:16 AM »
My Playstation 2 is connected to my TV using a Component cable.

The PS2 works perfectly, reads games, DVDs, cd's etc.. etc..

The problem is that everytime i reset it or switch it on it seems to lose ALL the bios settings.

That means that i have to go back to the settings and set it for Component output and set full screen etc.. etc...

Also if it try and set the internal clock it just won't let me. As in i go to the part where u sset the clock but the numbers won't change.

Battery issue?

Sounds like it, battery stores all CMOS data.  I had it happen before.  It's a CR2032 battery in the PS2, iirc - unsure if the PS2 slims differed, as I don't have one of those.

Good guide for taking the console apart, along with some general maintenance/testing:

Good luck!
