They likely over sold their production. Took in more preorders than they could realistically manufacture and ship in a reasonable amount of time.

I don't think they sold enough for that. Not judging by the tiny number of people on their own official forum.

Until we see real sales figures instead if one's that are made up, I'm suspecting they sold well under a thousand.

And by the. way, this is far from the first time I've read about this happening. Such a shame to see this done to such an iconic name....

The question is will he still be thrilled with it when the novelty factor wears off?

*sigh*

Is this still going on. Honestly while I have been on my honeymoon I thought this whole CUSA stuff had blown over. Maybe the guy who bought it should have looked at the fine print to see if his card issuer covers crap bought lol :rtfm:

Isn't CUSA an LLC? Could be interesting if he tries to claim the money back and they have nothing left.

Next we will probably be hearing that CUSA have bought the Amiga rights are something.

10?

I'm sure Spammy will be along soon to tell us that this was their 100,001 customer and he's top of the list for their second production run.

They gave him an upgrade the first time he had to wait, I think they owe him a free coffee table and sofa now.

Yea sure, it's just one incident. The real shocker here is that someone actually shelled out $1500 for one of these things?. What the hell is wrong with these people?.

As JJ says, it's a license, not a purchase, but yeah, Barry's decided that the obvious people to go after are high-end workstation customers, because if they're already paying $15,000 for a PC then surely they won't mind dropping another $1,000 on a branded case! (Of course, I'm sure their "I dunno, ask Ubuntu" support policy will be very competitive with the warranties offered by actual, established workstation vendors.)

The comments on that reddit thread should prove to CUSA the reaction of the "non-retro" community about their products, if they were ever in doubt.

Along with this one

This video was just...awful. And inappropriately epic. They may as well have scored it with Lux Aeterna.

Was that for real?  I thought it was a parody of some sort.

I note nobody else has added that they too are in the same boat.

It's bad for the individual involved, but appears to be a one-off.

Should be straightforward to contact his credit card company and problem will be solved.

except that not everybody posts on that site (I've never even heard of it until this thread), and I don't even see anyone in that thread that has ordered another one.  It's like looking on Ford sites from people complaining about their Toyota.

It might be the one person complaining about it to the world. but it doesn't mean that there won't be others that won't have gone through this. In fact I sure that I have seen some complain on their site that this has happened to them too. Though, as if by magic, a week later one has turned up.
