Gotta Have Gotta Have ... DOH!!!
« on: August 15, 2006, 11:35:32 PM »
I was walking past my local computer store on Saturday (Gamer of Brighton) and what did I see. A brand new A500 playing "Amy Walks" in the store window......I see the advertised price and run to the bank...its just before 12:00 I may just make it. I then proceed to empty my bank account (sod the rent, the landlord will have to wait) and run back to Gamer. After a few moments I walk out with a brand new boxed A500. God it is soooo cool, all my friends are drooling with envy when I get home....zzzZZzzz, ergh.... OH SH1T!!!!! This all took place nearly twenty years ago.

B U G G E R !!!!!!!!  :-D

Now imagine it is the year 2010.  You are walking past Electronics Boutique store window, and you see the new 'Amiga 8000' Quad G6 computer running the new Amiga-exclusive Quake 5 with photo-realistic 3D graphics and 10.1 surround-sound on a 60" widescreen HDTV display.  It is the most advanced game ever produced and all of the crowds gathered round the store window have never seen anything like it.  All of the computer magazines and websites are talking about nothing else but the new Amiga.

Well, you never know, it may happen.

You know I've actually held in my hand what could be classed as a G6 ... it was a prototype Power chip that was clocked at 4Ghz .. completely dead mind you (which is why we were allowed to poke it) .. had an IBM R&D guy come give a presentation on what his department does, had all sorts of cool toys in the wings waiting for the right market time, of which the chip was one.
