can you write a copy protected ADF to disk?

Just curious can you write the original copy protected ADF back to disk?

Leander (UK) (Disk 1) (1991) [Original] (Psygnosis) (MFM 'VERY' Long tracks).adf is 2,313,388 bytes, so not your standard 880k.  I tried using adf-blitzer and tsgui to write the image on a real amiga but it's not bootable.  The adf works fine on emulators.

I have the original PAL disks but disk 1 isn't booting, it would be nice if I could fix the original, sometimes the disks just need a rewrite but other times it's more serious.

You might want to try XFS or something to mount the disk as a virtual floppy, then use a OS supported nibbler to copy that file to dfx: (aka real floppy disk).

I haven't tried this before but it might work.

So it might be that the disk just does not have the information to be written back to disk properly.

EADF is the ADF format that supports long tracks.

Id concur with this , if the disk was copy protected in some way there's a pretty strong chance that creating the ADF file wont have circumvented this.
After all thats what copy protection is for.

The ADF works fine in emulators, so the copy protection data must be in the image unless the emulator has some special workaround.  It still might not be possible to write it with an Amiga drive but I'll try your suggestions on blank disks, I won't experiment with the original until I know it works.

Supposedly it's an extended adf and you'd be better off trying to get an ipf.

So first I need to find out if you can do a successful disk to disk copy using nibble or track sync on a real unmodified Amiga.

If that is possible then copying from a perfect image should be possible, just need the right software.  There doesn't appear to be any that directly support writing from IPS or EADF but some can write from dev.  I need to figure out how to mount/convert an IPS to dev (amiga.device?).
