Although they are still calling them alphas, from what I've seen they have pretty high standards.

They are really close to releasing alpha 3 and the next version will be the first beta.

I've seen worse than the current builds released as final though.  At least on my hardware it's fine for daily use.

Ya, the quality of their "Alphas" have been more than impressive! They got their priorities in order. Rather than focus on eye candy and advancements that would only be useful on a stable OS, they first make sure that the OS is stable and works as it does for the most important things. Everything else can be fleshed out later.
