Where's the Beef aka sound?
« on: April 06, 2010, 04:38:48 AM »
This OS seems to be begging me to un-install it, but with the release of Janus right around the corner, I want to give it a chance.

So I ordered a Sound Blaster Live, thinking I'd write some musick in Hively, play a little Quake, get my self ready for my full copy of BOH, and so forth.

In no less than three days, the sound card arrives in the mail! I install it, looked to see if AHI detected it and it did, so I tested the sound and it worked, then went on to save.

After this I fired up Hively, loaded a MOD file and pressed PLAY...

NOTHING.

I loaded BOH, set sound to ON, nothing.

Loaded Quake, aghhhh pure clean sound, but no way to bind my mouse to fire, or set the game to full screen, or so it appears.

I loaded DOOM, no sound.

The 303 Emulator does play sound, but it seems very limited in it's scope so I got bored with it quick.

This is all I've tested so far, and I can't say I'm impressed. Please don't tell me they actually released a ton of software without sound support! Especially Hively.

Oh and what is the deal with Milky Tracker? If I load a song file and try to play it, it locks up and resets AROS.

I am on REAL hardware for the note.

I have learned in the http://aros-exec.org forums that you need to make changes and save them for ALL of the units in order to have full sound support in AROS.
