A lot of people are looking at this from the wrong angle.
Clearly, Apple are aware that this shift is going to alienate a lot of their users, however they are willing to take the risk because they know PPC tech just isnt as competetive as it should be, in today's market.
I wonder, if Apple is moving away from PPC why should Amiga stay?
Also, are there really that many people willing to try "something different"? If it means investing in very expensive hardware and relearning everything you know about computers from the ground up, I doubt it? The weak A1 sales figures help prove that point, besides Apple and Linux have pretty much filled the "something different" niche already.
In any case, the PC market is moving at such a phenominal rate, that something-different-but-not-too-different is only 3-6 months away...
Next stop multicored 64bit CPU's, Physics PU's and SLI GPU's, to name a few.
