AmigaOS 4.x & MorphOS community we have listened to your feedback and are now seeking additional resources for DiscreetFX Labs to develop Aladdin 4D 6.0 for AmigaOS 4.x & MorphOS. You stated it was taking too long and we should not work on the OS X Lion version first so we are talking your feedback to heart. We are looking for one Amiga and MorphOS programmer proficient in C. No naughty Windows, Mac or Linux skills required, your time will be spent 100% working on coding what you love, AmigaOS 4.x & MorphOS!

A past resume on AmiNet, OS4Depot or MorphZone is a plus, preferably in the 3D animation/rendering software department. What do you get in return? Part time steady income from your Amiga development, don't quit your day job. This will be a long term commitment so we are looking for someone that loves to code 3D animation applications that wants to take Aladdin 4D to the next level. We don't need you just for version 6.0 but version 7,8,9 and beyond. Since you make royalties plus regular pay the more you do the more you make. We want someone excited to bite their programming teeth into a large exciting Amiga project. In the future you may have to work with the other developer working on the OS X Lion version of Aladdin 4D 6.0 but this will not be necessary in the beginning. AROS will not be left out in the cold, we will also need assistance in getting the AROS version coded once the AmigaOS 4.x and MorphOS versions are complete.

Contact us via the link below please with your CV/Resume and reasons why you are right for job. You will also be required to submit your code on a daily or at least weekly bases to a CVS and Blog about your progress to our customers. The Wizard of Oz behind the curtain development cycle of Aladdin 4D 6.0 has not pleased us either and we want future development to be in the public eye so customers see rapid progress.

Best regards

This is a very positive move.  I really hope you find a talented programmer.

did you guys think about contacting the old Caligori team members at all? When Truespace got bought out by Microsoft and then abondoned by them in 2009 I'm sure many of the developers are still around doing 3d stuff.

Good idea but don't know their names or how to contact. I'm sure they have Roman busy doing other things.

worth the effort to try & find some leads as they started off on the Amiga & might be interested in your story.

Seriously? While I think its a neat idea, my experience in business lead me to believe that it would be wiser if Tedd focused on getting the Mac version out.

Let's see, hundreds of potential sales or hundreds of thousands?

Well, the demo of 6.0 on the Mac shows that it is much further along (ready for sale soon?) and maybe that is why D-F/X is stretching out and going for AOS & MOS for the hat-trick.

Having someone else do it is the opposite of focusing on it, it's assigning the task for someone else to focus on.

I wish them success with the Amiga version, it would not delay the Mac version.

With that said, I wouldn't use this old software on any platform, nor would I be interested in actually using the Amiga version myself, but - it's still fun, and I hope they succeed.

I doubt that there would ever be hundreds of thousands of Mac users that would ever consider buying Aladdin4D for MacOSX, or even ever see it advertised anywhere.  I think they will be lucky to sell 100 to 200 copies of Aladdin4D for MacOSX, so I hope that is enough to pay for the programmer who is going to work on a port to OS4.x and/or MorphOS3.x.

Hopefully I will be wrong and they will sell over a thousand copies to Mac users, and Mac owning Amiga users, so they will have the funds to complete the ports to both the Amiga inspired PPC systems.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

Sales of Aladdin 4D on OS X Lion have nothing to do with development for OS 4.x and MorphOS. Aladdin 4D is a long term project. We don't expect 10,000 of sales until many features are added.

@AmigaDave

Seriously you should look at the public domain titles on the Mac AppStore that people actually pay for! I dunno know anything about Aladdin4D tbh, but even if its pretty basic it maybe of interest as an educational tool to getting into the world of 3D especially if its only a few dollars.

Looking forward to this for OS4.  Always loved Alladin on the legacy/68k machines.

Any ETA?  Might have to invest in a bit more CPU grunt than this 440ep for it, heh.
