Indivision ECS problems
« on: February 22, 2016, 01:36:41 AM »
Just got a USB Microscope today and was looking at my dead Indivision ECS and noticed this.

I am missing a surface mount component on the bottom.  Does anyone have any idea what it is ;  I would like to get this working again for my Amiga 600

Picture to follow.

'L' indicates an inductor. Not sure of the value required though. Are you sure there was a component there in the first place? Has it been dropped or something?

Yes there was a component there.  I can tell by the solder bits on the sides. It might be all that is needed to get this thing working again.  I just need to find the value.

It was working in an Amiga 600 but I transferred it to an Amiga 500 (got an ACA500 for it)
Pressed too hard installing it and it didn't work.  Put it back in the 600 but no joy there either.  Took it out and got a Dell monitor instead.

I found a picture of the back on the net.  It clearly shows that there is a component  at the L3 position.  It is probably the same value as the L4 next to it.  Problem is that there is no markings on the components.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Can you send a bigger picture of the components around it?
Usually these small SMD inductors are part of a filter or EMC suppression. You can (probably) short it out without causing any damage and see if it's the problem.

This is the picture of it that I found on the net.  The part that is missing on mine is the L3 component.  It is directly under the words 'good computer'  in the picture.

Can't see the numbers on that SMD but something belongs there.

He's active over on EAB and some of the other forums.  As an alternative, just googled this off his website:

Edit:  I wonder why he lists his telephone number but then says "no telephone support"?  Somebody should send him a fax, lol.  ;)
