Bootable floppy game
« on: January 19, 2016, 08:51:20 PM »
So after putting a game on a floppy disk as it won't run off of hard drive what do I do beside "install df0:" in order to make the program run automatically after a boot?

Make a dir "s" then make a startup-sequence (text file) with the commands you would like to run (run the game) and put it in the dir "s". That might do it.

It depends on the game.  Too many possible answers, otherwise.

Most likely it should run off your hard drive if it runs from floppy (ie. if it's a dos disk).

Oldsmobile_Mike is right.
It depends, you might even need a C and libs dir, it depends what the game needs from libraries-powerpacker etc etc.

I have many floppy games, some are hard drive installable and some are not and some want a soft reboot no matter what.

Was the game designed to run from boot or from the click of an icon. What is the game and how is it structured. If its an adf or dms then use blitzer and or write dms from the shell and decrunch to floppy. If an lha then the files may have an execute icon so look through the drawers and files. Not sure what it is that you are trying to do without more information on the game and the files involved. The boot will be necessary from the bootblock and you are right in trying to create this. However, there does need to be more direction such as a startup sequence but beyond that... I really am out of my depth.

More information needed really.
