iMica system shipping
« on: March 01, 2009, 03:43:48 PM »
For those who do not know about iMica, it is basically an intel atom based ITX motherboard system in a small case running the latest version of Aros and E-UAE. Pricing is very competitive at £250 and as you will see from my site performance is great.

I held off launching while awaiting OWB release but now it is in the wild and it rocks. iMica is a great stepping stone towards 68k Amiga software to x86 Amiga software. Not finished or perfect but I hope you agree it is cool and that Aros is a serious contender.

Hope you all like and give it a look.

PS. My site is on my local server so please be patient if it does not load, I am moving to full server soon.

Thats a nice little system!. Great all in one for someone that doesnt want to build there own.

It makes me realize that it might finally be time to build my own Aros box. It seems that it has most of the main apps for general computing now.

Thanks for the positive responses, as mentioned iMica is for those not used to building a system. If you are happy to do so then you can get greater performance. Just remember drivers are still a problem and Vesa is still best mode at moment for graphics as it is very fast and very reliable. As for sound just get Soundblaster live with EMU10k chip off ebay for around $10.

More users the better I say.

I will soon be announcing Amiga 25th anniversary site which I hope to involve all people with all flavours of Amiga OS. The next couple of years should be good for all of us if we band together under Amiga banner with many flavours.

Nice system. The case looks similar to what have used on two of my itx systems. Got them on the cheap for $55 each.

Nice Case for ITX Boards

Can I ask where you got your case because the iMica ones are very expensive, nearly half the price of unit. Plus can you fit a PCI riser board.

I'd suggest that you visit www.mini-box.com

They have pretty competive prices on mini-itx boards also.

XP performance should be good, it is a Dual core 16ghz machine after all. Linux apparantly has issues but have not tried to install yet.

Note that I am going to build a faster machine in a normal case for less money soon. This is meant to be a small neat Aros machine that performs very well but cannot compete with modern 3ghz + machines that cost peanuts. Also this case is really expensive.
