"Over 7 years in the making, the team of video game industry historians Marty Goldberg and Curt Vendel are in the final leg of producing the much awaited definitive book on the history of Atari Inc. - but they need your help to finish!

Thousands of original documents and internal resources have already been procured, and hundreds of interviews with former Atari employees have conducted as well. But with a targeted release date in time for Atari's 40th anniversary on June 27th of 2012, there's still more to do! Travel and research expenses need to be covered for this final round of interviews and documentation inquiry."

There is a 6-ish minute video as well.


I thought it was pretty interesting and thought folks here might as well.

An Atari book, lets see where can I buy matches, they are to hard to find, maybe a zippo lighter, that way if it is windy out, I still can burn it.

How is it blasphemy? It's about Atari Inc., not Jack Tramiel's Atari Corporation, it has nothing to do with the Atari that competed against Amiga. Atari Inc. is of course where Jay used to work and developed the 2600 Stella chip and 8-bit series of computers.
 
Don't worry though, we'll be coming out with a second book, on Atari Corporation specifically, and you can cry blasphemy all you want on that. But we will be clearing up all the Amiga/Atari purchase misinformation as well.

Im really looking forward to this book and in particular the second book covering atari corporation.Are you involved in this book?If so well done and good luck with it.I will be buying it as soon as it's released.

Yes, I'm the co-author with Curt Vendel. We were just out in the Silicon Valley area doing interviews last month in fact, and just missed out on an interview with Jack for the 2nd book. We were supposed to meet with him the week he died. I'm also the one who broke the news about Jack's death to the media (hence my quote in the Forbes article).

I thought this was a great book and I'm really looking forward to buying it.

There are so many books on Apple and Microsoft that people don't realize there were many other companies at the forefront.  Companies like Commodore, Atari, and Tandy have long since been forgotten.

I had an Atari 2600 and I had respect for the 400/800 and I guess the ST.  Sorry, old habits are hard to break...  :-)


However, I would like to know more about the history at Atari and some of the reasons for their designs.

Can we pre-order the book?

What's the problem? I reckon a book on Atari's history would be interesting ... and it is relevant because it was around the same time.

I grew up with Atari myself. So it would be an interestin read.    History!  Nothing bad with that?    Of course I choose Commodore especially Amiga.
