Title: New Elite-game is Open Source
Post by: Cerpheus on January 30, 2003, 12:40:25 PM
"Elite - Darkness Falls" is a follow-up to the classic Elite games. It is an Open Source project for Windows at the moment, but maybe some Amiga programmer would be interested.... ;) Website with beta-version, FAQ, Forums, etc. you can find on the official website:

Interesting. Very intereting. As I understand it, it's a continuation of the original Elite, not of Frontier (i.e. the old Elite flight model etc.) Noone mention internet support, but i suppose that would be too great an effort to implement as of yet. But it is an Open source project, so... :-D

yes, its continuing the original Elite, also with permission of the original author Ian Bell. I guess this could be a real cool game not only on the classic Amiga, but also on OS 4.0 and MorphOS.

January 28, 2003 -- We are currently preparing the entire code base of Parsec for a full source release in early May 2003, which will mark a major change in the structure of the Parsec Project.

The source release will include platform support for Win32, MacOS X, and Linux, and contain both OpenGL and Glide rendering code."
