To Do list -- Bug fixes for new site.
« on: February 16, 2004, 05:44:50 AM »
This is a temporary forum post. By using it, I hope we can catalog most of the current bugs with the site and track them through to completion.

This is NOT for "I wish, I wants". This is for bug reports and known problems

When new bugs are reported, I will add them to this post. People who do not read this post and complain of bugs or items already listed will be ignored.

Please submit new bugs to this thread ASAP so that we can correlate them and get them fixed

When we reach a solid point, this forum thread will be closed.

--------------

Known issues;

Signature and Bio truncation
This has been fixed.

font issues (Sans-Serif)
Description : The fonts being displayed on the new site are ABSOLUTELY no different than the earlier 1.x version. All fonts are called with

Code: [Select]
<font face="Arial, Helvetica, Sans-Serif" size="2">
There are one or two exceptions where Verdana is inserted before Helvetica. The fact that you are seeing "Serif" or "Sans-Serif" font is because your browser or system doesn't have any of the other fonts loaded. Nothing that *I* can do to correct that.

Exceptions to the rule:
Certain sections of Xoops 2.x have never been updated from their Xoops 1.x counterpart, which depended heavily on CSS. Those modules (Classifieds and What's new for example) must be MANUALLY MODIFIED at the source code level until a Xoops 2.x version is made available.

Any abnormal font may also simply be part of the code we've not actually gotten around to fixing, so patience would help.

Classifieds Additions
The "Classifieds" Module is also known as "MyAnnonces" (but I HATE the "My*" schema and what the hell is an annonce?). The copy we're running is currently a Xoops 1.x unmodified version and I will be removing it shortly when the 2.x version is completed. The URL will change however and there's not much that can be done about that. Sorry for any inconvenience.

The header
While not technically a bug, a lot of complaints have come out about the current site and section headers. We're looking into the options to redo this, since most people are unwilling to actually accept anything new.

--- added --

Images comments missing
Looking into it. Probably a problem caused by the upgrade from MyAlbum 1.0 to MyAlbum-P 2.61.

Well okay, it's been mentioned before, but I can think of the comments for images all missing.

There is also the absence of a row of smileys at the bottom of the posting page (between 'Quote' & 'more...')

--Edit:

And I've just noticed that the images aren't displaying at all

--Edit number 2:

And only a minor issue this time:
How does the 'Views' number work now? Because I've noticed that it now has a lower number of views than posts at times, and the counter doesn't count after each view
???

Sorry, you don't have the permission to access this area.
And why can't I access my user details???

--Edit:

In fact, if I click on just about anything that I can't access such as ":: Waiting Contents
Submitted News" It will take me to that page, then it can't allow access to that page and it will take me there again, and it will keep doing that forever...

Having the same problem, I tried to PM Argo about it, but I can't, It comes up with "Sorry, you don't have permission..." and it starts looping the same screen over and over.

I just went to "Edit Account", and added some text to my signature (to fix the truncation now the bug has been fixed). I also selected "store my login in a cookie for a year". After clicking "submit", I got a page saying "You do not have access to this page" or similar, and it kept redirecting itself to that page in an endless loop. I manually went back to the main page, and clicked "View Account", and got the same problem again. I had to logout and back in to fix it.

This is with Mozilla Firefox 0.8 on Windows 2000. I made almost identical modifications to my account last night in IBrowse 2.3 on OS4, and had no such problem.

Edit: And looking at my sig, it seems that truncation problem is NOT fixed :-(

in the links section most of the images have a thick blue "link" border...

and in the "what's new" block, there is no divider so the forum posts are combined into a huge number...

umm, cosmetic difference, donno if you can be bothered, when you click on more to find out the whole list of who's online, the colour scheme is still from the default xoops theme...

also, could i suggest having a different colour for the header bars of the block's, they look kinda crampt... (sp)

umm, since you don't use it/advertise the use of it i don't know if i should mention this, but if you use xoops' default pda thingy then it still has the default xoops logo...

Anyone else getting threads displayed in a narrow column down the center with most of the screen real estate wasted?

Other than that, no problems other than the ones mentioned.

@Wayne:

Can you do the links without underlining. Or maybe just underlining when the mouse is over it. Will make the site look a lot better.

Also, if possible, it is interesting to see the number of comments added to a news item on the main page itself. Maybe with the number of times the topic was clicked on. Like it used to be in previous version.
