SNK on Amiga?
« on: November 10, 2003, 02:46:16 AM »
Hi Guys,

I love using my PC to play on my NeoGeo emulator playing SNK games all day long. Especially with Kill Bill out, Samurai looks perfect with its bloody splurting everywhere.

Any NEOGEO emulators on teh Amiga? My google search came up cold. I found Nes Emulation and ofcourse we have speccy emulation, but cant seem to find NeoGeo emulators :-( NeoRage on the Amiga would ROCK!!!!

brings me to a point, the amiga was given a rude awakening when the Street Fighter II got ported over. Just wasnt as good as the consoles. But I thought Mortal Kombat on the Amiga was better than the Sega versions. Body Blows always seemed a little souless for me.

The only games I thought came close to SNK games where some bizarre ones i remember... one that had elves and stuff in it. I never saw it in any magazines, it never got any reviews or hype but it was the best beat em on the amiga EVER! was really fast, had great moves and seemed to take advantage of great audio and visuals the amiga could offer. WHY CANT I REMEMBER ITS NAME!?!?! and why did i sell all my amiga games to my cousins husband 4 years ago?

whats all your opinions on amiga beat em ups?
First Person Shooters are the current craze, but back in the day before Tekken and Virtual Fighter, the 2D beat em up is what sold platforms... Street Fighter II was the reason most people bought the SNES back in the old days.

my fav is the elf game I cant remember the name of (not very helpful i know, sorry)
then it would be Mortal Kombat II
then would be Street Fighter II
and some way down the list Ultimate Body Blows (sorry i just never clicked with it)

OS4 or MorphOS would really Rock with some funky SNK type games. no need for 3D graphics all the time

edit-----------
finally found something that looks like it could be a NeoGeo emulator
http://www.8ung.at/falke34/emulation.html
this site has a list of loads of emulators and speaks of WarpNeo. WarpMameNeo seems to be the name :-) looks like my prayers seem to be awnsered. But just how good can the PPC NeoGeo emulated system compare to its P4 NeoRage counterpart?

anyone tried NeoGeo on their PPC I would really love to hear ur comments :-D ta

I think the game you're on about was Elfmainia, I never had the privilege of playing that game on the amiga, saw plenty of ads. in magazines though.

So many fave game threads have been done before I can't be arsed to name any this time round. :-P

MantisSpider:
The Game you are talking about is ElfMania........Totally excellent looking...proves that the Amiga can Do it..........this game looks AGA but it runs on A500

Wanna see NEO GEO style game on the Amiga?
Get FIGHTIN SPIRIT from NEO software this is the closest there is.

Also check out CAPITAL PUNISHMENT by ClickBOOM
AGA only

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo by GameTek was the best looking version out of all 3 versions of street  fighter for the Amiga.

might wanna check out Shadow Fighter by Gremlin

her are some other pretty darn good games:

Ruff N Tumble  (1 Meg ECS but looks AGA!)
Brian The Lion ( Psygnosis.......SNES type platformer)
LionHeart (by Thalion..........comparable to CastleVania on SNES...........this game is free at Thalion website)
WolfChild (CORE DESIGN............this game is not so great but it SEGA Genesis like)
Bubble & Squeek ( ECS and AGA versions available)
Banshee (very SNES like 1942 type game)
Hybris ( very old Shootem Up but one of the best........by the makers of Swor of Sodan)
Projext X ( Of Course)
T- Zero (by ClickBOOM)

Shareware:   BabeAnoid and OUTFALL ( this game is done the right way....it runs in PAL and NTSC and yet the image stays in same exact spot and runs at the same speed--music and all.........the best PAL/NTSC mode swith I have ever seen!)
CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

there is neogeo emus on amiga and neogeopocket , but to get useable speeds you will need a ppc.

powerup cards will do for some, others not.

you can run neogeo games on amiga using a MAME port, i even managed it on 68k and aga but it only went about 3fps :-(

I agree, Mame should be the best choice for running neogeo games.

Btw: You should get Mortal Kombat (rev. 5.0 T) for Mame. It's the best.  :-D

If you want to get most out of the HW of your A500 (with 1meg) indeed ElfMania is the game to choose
The gfx are as good as a NeoGeo fightgame
And oh , the gameplay is also good.
(btw, Mortal Kombat looks better on Amiga then on the SNES, I both played them :-) )

Mortal Kombat on Amiga Does NOT look better tha the SNES version..........it is actually equal to or worse than the Genesis version, and as for Mortal Kombat II...........it is improved but is AGA only and is still worse than the Genesis version.........the SNES version of MKII is excellent.........this doesnt mean at all that the Amiga can't do it.........its just that it was a crappy port from people who love to rush out games just for the money like US GOLD.............they suck!

Mortal Kombat II on the 1200 aint too bad though.

MantisSpider "Zool is one of the best amiga games of all time"

You should try Zool 2 ! it was a super improvment over the first one!  you can crawl up walls and the gfx are way nicer.

Get SuperFrog if you never tried it....its really nice

Zool 2 rocked too, im scared to get Zool on CD32 version though. I hear its not as good :-(

Superfrog knocked me out when I saw the animation on disk 1 and heard the "Superfrog" sound bite. A bit too much lukazaide promotion for me. Like the MacDonalds sponsorship of the captain planet and the eco warriors game.

at least it sold amigas.

Amiga NeoPocott PPC was okay but ran too slow on PPC AGA. But i have a graphics card now so maybe it will be a little better! :-)

Anyone heard of the MSX, aka the 8-bit Neo Geo i think! :-)
