My A1200 Tower
« on: September 08, 2003, 01:33:35 AM »
Ok, you've probably seen a million A1200 towers... just thought I'd show you mine though cause I'm quite proud of it :-P

These pics are a little old, I've got some new stuff since, and I'll get some up-to-date pics tomorrow I think.

Description:
ATX Standard PC Case (MIDI, 4x5.25 bays, 2x3.5 external bays, 3x2.5 internal bays) sawn up and plated to allow vertical mounting of motherboard.
2nd edition C= mouse
Amiga 2000 UK Keyboard (refurbished :-D)
Official Amiga sticker (:-D:-D)
In pic; Philips CM8833-MkII RGB monitor - now, Compaq Presario VGA monitor w/ScanMagic internal Scandoubler  (May get TFT panel soon! :-D)
Standard PC hi-density 3.5" floppy drive, used a cable hack from Aminet which makes it into an Amiga 880k one.
Mitsumi 32x CD Drive which sounds like a jet taking off! :-)
Two identical Fujitsu 2.4GB hard disks
Blizzard 1230 Mk IV  030@50, 16mb RAM.
Reset and power buttons funtional (used Testpoints for reset)
AT power supply; mounted at front of case in bottom with sockets extended to back. Amiga brick-on-a-rope socket desoldered and replaced with wires leading to a custom plug into AT PSU.
AmigaOS 3.9 / Kickstart 3.1 (softkicked into Blizzard! :-D)

Time taken: Approx 4 weeks on-and-off

To-do:
Nicer mouse and keyboard?
Get a nice inch-by-inch case badge made
Label back ports
Properly secure motherboard (needs fising to back plate)
Install better cooling (scandoubler known to overheat)

Other pics of finished computer

Other (older) pics i took during construction

^^ Slightly old, will update soon!
Sorry for bad quality of pics.
Have some better quality pics of tower case insides on my friends digicam, will get them soon. In the meantime I'll take more with my webcam  ;-)

Hope you like! :-)
