parnet died
« on: September 26, 2004, 06:24:17 PM »
I linked A1200 to A2000 with parnet, and it worked fine yesterday. Today, after trying all the possible combinations of UNIT 0, UNIT 1, etc. it doesn't work. Cable is good, it works between A2000 and A4000, so the problem must be in A1200..
Is there some way to thoroughly test CIA chip (other than this)?

 :-(  :-(  :-(  :-(
Better sorry than worry.

Haven't tried any of these personally, but they may be of some use to you.

If you know German and have MUI:
MagicParnet.lha on Aminet

Also in German:
TickIt.lha on Aminet

English CLI tool:
AvailCIA.lha Aminet

Good luck!

How about hooking up a printer?
That ought to test the port.

Joystick, mouse and keyboard work fine. I could try to connect printer, but this is what I've found on Google groups:

"You may find that a printer connected to the port will work fine, but parnet will not."

Someone also mentions "analyzer" made by the author of sysinfo?
Better sorry than worry.

Sure, if you have something like a breakout box and a program to write directly to the port so you can turn individual bits on and off.
