Commodore 128 Swap
« on: August 11, 2020, 12:51:56 AM »
I think I want a C128.
I may even swap an A600 for one.
What do you think?

Ah the 128[D]...still my favorite computer of all time.

Watching youtube videos today, people are using 2 monitors to display the 40 and 80 column screens at the same time ... I don't know why I never thought of that!

Also, to me what would be more interesting would be a device that somehow would take the digital output of the two video chips and merge them in a way that would expand the color range...  Sort of how those 80 column interlaced modes simulated 512 colors...

My 128D[CR] is sitting in the basement.  It powers up but I don't get video ... or at least the  "Basic" screen does not display in any mode...

Ray Carlsen can repair your C128DCR.  :)

The new C128 game, Volley for Two, uses both the 40-column and 80-column screens at the same time.

I have a few of them. And a ton of software for it.
Love the machines. Ran my dads HVAC company on it in 93, and used it for my college homework too...
Used the Compute! Magazine speed script word processor in 80collum... loved it tons. Also, got the GEOS 128 on it, and a pair of 1381 3.5” disk drives. A few 1351 mice, etc...

I guess I could kick myself for selling mine.
Maybe an emulated system is next.
