Either way your gonna have to expand / modify.

The surf squirrel has got to go if you want to use your PCMCIA port period. Unless your prepared not to have your cd plugged in while your online.

On a bog-standard A1200 the PCMCIA port is the only expansion port you can use to get ethernet. So either you get a Zorro/PCI daughterboard or you rip out the Squirrel and get a cheap PCMCIA ethernet card :-(.
