What do I do to connect my Amiga top Broadband?

AOL, Tiscali, Freeserve etc don't have a broadband network they are just rebaged ntl: / BT broadband products.

I've got Blueyonder 1Mbit Broadband at home currently connected to 2 PC's.
We've ordered a Router and so over Xmas I will then be connecting the Amiga up as well.

OK, So I have my broadband installed at home.

I have my cable modem, I assume this all just plugs in as normal, yes/no?

Now, how do I setup Miami and Yam to work with broadband.

What type of modem do you have ?
You can interigate Motorola's via a web browser.

Thick Coax cable to the "F" connector plate on your wall.

RJ45 Network cable to the ethernet port on your Amiga (The one in your modem box if it came with one)

Check the Modem and Network Card. There should be a link light illuminated on both.

This is good as layer 1 (physical connection) is up.

Rename miami.default to oldconfig or something.

Run MiamiInit

Select Ethernet/Cable Modem/ASDL
Type in your network driver that came with your network card.

Devs:Networks/xxxxx.device  adjust path / xx's to suit.

Will get you an IP address via DHCP.

Ask you for a netmask enter 255.255.255.0
this should come automatically just press enter.

Job done save config and exit.
Run Miami
Import from Miamiinit V3
Save as default
Click online

You know need to register the modem it should only let you go to one site which is the registration site.
With ntl: AWEB is the only browser that works with the autoreg site.
You'll need to enter some details like your account number transfer details from dialup MAC address (Long HEX number on the back of the cable modem) etc.
It will set up you email options.

Once this is done and the modem is registered your just browse as normal.

I only have the PCMIA I am afraid, and that is full of Surfsquirrel....

 In a standard A1200 I believe your best and only
option is the pcmcia slot. You will need to download
a copy of cnet.device from aminet...in it is a file
which lists all of the known compatabile PCMCIA
network cards.

Do you use the SCSI on your surf squirrel or just the fast serial port ?

You could get a second hand Blizzard / Apollo with SCSI on and free up your PCMCIA that way and use your internal serial.

Get an A1 and keep your A1200 for legacy stuff.

It is the SCSI as I have my CD drive connected to it.
