I got to say I think the Lian Li is a bit squat and ugly. In fact I want a case that reminds me of the feeling I had when I bought my first A1000 - the "thats neat" and you are proud to sit down in front of it and type - you do your BEST work on that machine because it gives you such a nice environment.

The A4000 came close.

The A500 when you first got it home seemed to bristle with promised power even if it was a poxy 68000 processor.

Nothing I have seen so far brings back that feeling.

Dont get me wrong an A1000 and A4000 case today look tacky, but I want that "leap" like I had from the Zx Spectrum to the A1000 - that "leap" from the A1000 to the A4000.

This is the other problem with cases being bought, there is no corporate identity on the hardware.

No walking into the room and someone going WOW you got a Mac! Wow you got an A1000! Its hey, whats the specs of your PC and when you explain to them its a G4 at 800Mhz they lose interest.
Hate figure.

Whatever the final decision is we do need to find something unique that brands the Pegasos

Well, my current favourite would be the Colorcase Noblesse Black/Blue as found for example at wintelco.nl.

I'll certainly keep this case in mind for the day I'll buy my Pegasos-2.

Thanks for the ideas! We appreciate the suggestions.

The Aachen pegasos desktops are pretty damn nice looking! Coolermaster right? and so is the lian-li 9300 case.
This is the spacewalker case for those of you who missed that one. Only comes pre-built with x86 mobo, but if genesi could make some deal with them, that would be nice.
I want a totally clean case. No neat designing trix

This case (the on ehtat started the thread) would be so much cooler if it had the swing down motherboard design that the G3/4s do.

My wife has her machine in a Noblesse. Nice case. Mine's in an aluminum Antec Server type case. Also a nice choice. :)

Two things:

1) Weight. When I got my aluminum case, I was blown away by how much less it weighed.

2) Heat management. Aluminum cases run much cooler than their steel counterparts.

As for quality, the aluminum case I have is an incredibly well built case. This is not one of those areas where heavier means better built.

i see that as ONE problem...
there are so many whirly viabrating things in the case, that when they spin the entire case viabrates with them! the heavier the case, the worse the viabration + noise!
so IMO lighter cases are noisier

if you have a well designed case, especialy a full-tower, it shouldnt be much of a problem!

IMHO, i havnt seen any really good aluminium cases... not compared to the steel ones!

I generally shy away from shiny cases but I think this one looks alright.

I have this case and I think it is a very good case.  You don't see the cdrom drives because the 'flaps' automatically open when you press eject.  So, no biege.  This is for the top two drive slots.
